I hope they don't do any more tweaks to the WB for the new firmware.
I suspect 2.1 has something to do with the new SCN functions, specially in the HD mode.

I've upgraded and encountered no issues so far.
In fact I upgraded because of the 1:1 aspect ratio as I'm planning a pet project with photo mosaics as the square format is perfect for what I intend to do. So far no issues with shooting 1:1 aspect ratio.

The technical problems are while using the “Custom Mode” some customers may experience one of the following issues:

1. 1:1 aspect ratio may not function as intended.

2. While zooming, zoom magnification indication may be incorrect, and may stop updating.

3. The on screen guidelines may be off center.

4. The time display for the built-in memory may display the wrong time.

A corrected firmware version should be posted on or about October 20, 2009.

For any customers who have already downloaded and installed v 2.0, and who are experiencing any of these problems, they should "RESET" the camera using the "SETUP MENU" option. This will restore normal operation, but any custom setting will be reset to the factory default settings.

This information will be posted to the Panasonic LUMIX Global Site soon very soon. Customers who have posted this firmware on public file sharing servers should stop distributing this firmware immediately.

Most Important: Please do not to revert back to v 1.3 from v 2.0 as it may cause some side effects.

this news states that v2.1 is just a corrected firmware version of 2.0..Anyway, i definitely hope Panasonic will give us a big surprise by adding some new features on 20 Oct:)

Hm... not an issue to me since I dun play with Custom Mode

Ok, i think i also want to install liao. saw some photographer pics for 1:1 with pin hole effect! damn good!

Sorry for sounding dumb cos I just got my camera today, but how do I update it?

Shyt I updated my LX3 on the day v2.0 was released... But I haven't tried the 1:1 aspect ratio yet. I haven't really noticed any other issues like inaccurate zoom magnification, time display, etc. I updated because I was tempted by the +/- 3 bracketing and exposure compensation. Hopefully no problem until 2.1 is released...

No issue lah, still kudos to a firm that actually upgrade functionality instead of just bugs fixes. Can wait till they release the new firmware and update again. Anyway the rest of the function still OK. ;)

Curious, after the battery upgrade. Can third-parties batteries be used?

I read the following extract from their website. They said for those who have already updated to ver 2.0 need to reset the camera.

Anyone of you got follow the instruction and reset the camera? I never reset coz lazy to set all my settings again but so far never encounter any problems. Any of you encounter any problems with ver 2.0 so far?

< For the users who have already updated LX3 to Ver.2.0 >
The camera which has been already updated to Ver.2.0, can be used without any problem after the reset of the camera by selecting the [RESET] in Setup menu.
Please note that all settings except the clock setting will be reset to the initial settings. To keep the current settings, please make sure to write down the settings on a note in advance to reset the settings.

Basically they should have advised that before upgrade to 2.0, reset LX3 first then upgrade.
