The only thing I whine about is Pany is that user cannot use 3rd parties battery on its system, which is gonna blow a hole inside my pocket. :bsmilie: Intend to get G1 or GF1. But after reading about Pany's action to lock up system to prevent the use of 3rd parties battery kills my thought to support Pany system.

P.S: I am still a student hence the $100 plus battery is ex to me.

Hi, so is it confirm that 3rd-party-battery definitely "lock-up" Panny system(including GF1...???):o:thumbsd: If this is the "true-case" then may have to:bigeyes:"change-target" on purchasing this Category-of-Mini-DSLR lor...hor...hor...Will definitely  twice...!!!

Whao...based on the above link, the 'Power Supply 1250mAh ID-Security Li-ion Battery Pack', hopefully the original battery:sweat:is Well-Price lor...if not, may wait for EP-2(cos no hurry for me as I got a number of PnSs+DSLRs=may refer to my Profile, to have fun with...), if there's gonna be one:dunno:

Well. It is confirmed. There are already complaints regarding the Pany G1 system on internet and other forum, is that when one insert 3rd party batteries there will be a warning on the display screen for few seconds. After that it will shut down. Hence only original batteries allowed.

But if the G1 you purchased is 1st batch out of the factory, maybe will still be able to use 3rd party batteries. Thats because the firmware might be the first version hence they have not lock up the batteries.

So I suppose they might do the same for GF1. If that is the case I rather stick to 4/3 for my next upcoming purchase. Rather then M4/3. Besides, I've seen the G1 at city link, its not really small. Slightly smaller then E-420. Pfft....

Urghhh...why like that lehhh...:(...when I've actually put my:heart:to buy this...how to survive without any extra battery...huh:thumbsd:worst if it's very $Exp$

Btw, how much/or roughly what kind of price-range will the Original-battery cost??Tia.

4/3 rumours.com is showing a Oly announcement on 31st Oct. Very interesting to see if a new m4/3 body is launched. Then can compare against the GF-1.

Nonetheless I'm quite sold on the GF-1's AF speed so far, just waiting for real life tests first by other photographers :)

The price ranges from $135 - $199 (MSRP) although I don't know why the price disparity is so great. I raised this issue before in this thread http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/showthread.php?t=540725

Since the GF1 is a new camera that is released after Panasonic announced their lockdown on 3rd party batteries, it's unlikely the first batch will be free from this lockdown, unlike the G1 and GH1.

Hi, Thanks for your reply:)

Btw, are they(G1, GH1 and GF1)using the same battery-type?

As for that kind of price as stated above is like.....:faint::complain:cos can you imagine if I were to purchase about 3 of this batteries for travel and...whatever, what will be the total $$$ then(ranging from about $405-$597...ahhh...:thumbsd:and with this amount I can buy another lenses, speedlite and or even PnS liao lor...:sticktong)agree, bro??

I realize GF1's high ISO is not as good as E-P1.. :(
Why Pany's high ISO are always worse than others?

I feel GF1's ISO1600 is quite good and even ISO3200 is also useable for small prints. A remarkable feat already compared to standard 4/3 and all PNS.

Unless you always look at 100% and 5cm from your screen, then you should be using DSLR.

My colleague got the GF1 from Hong Kong, and we've been playing it this morning in the office... ;)

The GF1 is a nice little camera, the focus is noticeably faster than the E-P1 (firmware 1.1). I had the 40-150mm attached to the GF1 and it focuses in an instant compared to the E-P1.

The 20mm f/1.7 is a gem, very well made and most importantly it is sharp. The f/1.7 really is handy when using ISO100 under office lighting!

The screen on the GF1 is also a lot nicer (but of course! it has double the number of dots than the E-P1), it doesn't affect the picture taking, but it is nicer and more pleasant to look at.

Besides missing in-body image stabilsation, I think the GF1 trumps the E-P1 in many ways.... I think it will sell very well.

Olympus, please give us another killer micro 4/3 camera!

Thanks for the mini review.

Really can't wait for its availability in SGP. However the rumour launch of Oly on 31st Oct is really something holding many people back as well...

My apologies didnt reply your question regarding the price of the battery. Was busy the entire week hence I didnt log into CS.

Anyway yea, someone already answered the cost of the Pany batteries for me. But I didnt realize it could go up to S$199 as well. Haha. I agree with what you say, if buy three types of battery from Pany you could get a basic lens or a P&S. But I think their line of DSLR battery should be using the same type. Unless it is those normal Pany DSLR, the battery will be different fron G1 and GF1 as those battery will be much bigger.

So after much consideration, I think its not worth investing in GF1. Mainly their lenses option are limited plus they locked 3rd part batteries. Also the prices of the battery is daylight robbery. I shall stick with my Canon 20D and save up for prime lens instead. :bsmilie:

Oh, don't worry bro, and so nice:thumbsup:of you as to clarified yourself (as compared to.....), no problem it's alright I for once/twice sooo busy until I didn't even realised it was more than a month that I did not Log-in as well...

Yes, agreed too.

If I remembered correctly, I've made clear my decision not too long ago that(to me)it not really worth it cos of the ID-Battery concept:thumbsd:
Yah, when talk about lenses, hopefully they'll expand their line of lenses as time goes by...but my MAIN corncern here is they're very Unlikely to "Unlock" their ID-batt which is a:thumbsd:, you agree??

Btw, good alternatives for Prime lens for your 20D=)
