For the last few years, manufacturers no longer participate in shows directly. These days, it is in partnership with their resellers or distributors. This brings down the cost and also allowing their resellers to boost sales since the good sales people are usually from the resellers. The downside is, most of these sales promoters are not very well trained on the product and they cannot give product specialised answers which you can find pretty frustrating...
Customer : This camera good or not ah? Compare to brand x/y/z...
Sales : Of course lah, how to compare?
Customer : In what way?
Sales : Can work on PC and Mac. :bsmilie:

When I was at Chevron (not Caltex, sorry) House Panasonic roadshow, the Harvey Norman manager told me HN won't be selling Panasonic products in SITEX. Maybe he wanna close my GF-1 sale for saying that. But I give him the benefit of the doubt till proven otherwise.
And a Panasonic employee (in tie with Panasonic staff pass) at the roadshow told me the GF-1 stocks come and go very fast, the dealers do not have to go lelong in SITEX. Again, I give him the benefit of the doubt till proven otherwise.

When I went there on Tuesday, they were accepting pre-orders and told me that there is a nation-wide shortage that would only be alleviated end of the month.
I don't know if the situation has changed such that they are selling units there and then. Or maybe they sold out on Monday?
Also something to look out for, the price I got seems to be different too from what an earlier posting mentioned.
In any case, I hope Panasonic rectifies the situation soon. This is potential revenue lost for them. I'll drop them if a competitor announces a better product to be available in the coming months. And the E-P2 still remains an option.

I agree, go for E-P2 when it is available. The waiting time for GF-1 is too long. Panasonic will be losing a lot of potential customers if E-P2 is available right now.
Its gonna be thru' their dealers - Panasonic won't be participating directly.
