Panasonic LUMIX DMC-LX100 & LEICA D-Lux Type 109

Don't mind doing if anyone has a lx100 to test with. But anyway the differences will be in jpgs. Raw files both should be the same.

me. kopi next week? haha

Ha stay in the southwest hehe. If u work near raffles can meet over week day lunch?

alamak.. i going overseas next week leh.. now on leave already..

Is the freebie only for pre-order?

it is available also for customer who buy the camera now..
i heard this lasts til 7 Dec.. not sure how true..

One very obvious difference that I find disconcerting is that the lens on the Typ 109 retracts very much more slowly that that of the LX100 during power-off. My dealer told me that he at first thought the camera was faulty when he noticed this on a Typ 109 that he was testing for a customer. I thought the LX100 was slow in retracting but I noticed that the Typ 109 was even slower when he demonstrated the effect to me in the shop.

The auto-open lens cap of the Typ 109 is at least twice the price of that for the LX100 but at least it is already available ex-stock....and the ring seems to be metallic and not plastic.

i think we went to the same dealer..
i saw the auto-open lens cap for Typ 109 but i can't bear to spend $8X for it..
so i slapped a filter on it for now..

I think it is a free overnight bag for the first 200 buyers using a DBS/POSB card not a camera case. The case is not yet available for sale.

If u redeem the case from Panasonic it will be the official case as shown..

thought I was the only one with Brown...
Anyways I'm using it as a form of protection only when kept in my bag, haha.

But when it's slung on my shoulder, I just keep the base plate on.
Quite troublesome to be honest cause when you wanna change battery, gotta take out the whole damn thing

I have a couple of friends also has the brown case.

me. kopi next week? haha

Count me in ;)Been shooting with the Type 109 for a day now , and its really good.

Going back to differences, the way I see it is:

1. JPEG wise, there is a difference. (i played with Wong's set). If you shoot Raw, no diff.
2. Firmware is different
3. You pay more for +2 years of international warranty and Lightroom , the Red dot and obviously a nicer design which to me is worth the extra $500)
4. Otherwise, the specs etc should be all the same. The Type 109 is obviously a Leica retweaked version of the LX100

the lx100 and leica dlux use the same batteries as many lumix cameras, the DMW-BLG10. just buy whatever spare batteries are available for all these models!

Compatible Models:
DMC-LX100K , DMC-LX100S , DMC-GM5KR , DMC-GM5KK , DMC-GX7SBODY , DMC-GX7KS , DMC-GF6KK

noo what I meant was third party batteries. are there anyone using 3rd party batteries and if so, how reliable is it - and where can I find them for how much?

I'll follow bro Ricleo's advice and get a Panasonic battery and use since it's already cheaper.

But if u insist on a 3rd party battery , u can buy them easily at Red dot photo or on Amazon. Just search for the model number Ricleo provided.

I don't advise 3rd party batteries so I won't be posting the prices here. Nothing against them or I'm rich , just that if I can spend a thousand buying a camera I should be able to at least spend on a proper batt.

The beauty of this red dot camera is too hard to resist !

Local shops also do sell third party batteries as an alternative for blg10. Some of them i ask before is slr, alan photo and ms, price range from near 20-30+.but if you ask them usually they will honestly tell you that third parties batteries usually can't hold the charge long, lesser shots or unstable in some weather condition, etc.

Imo, buy genuine one is safer although it might be 2-3x more expensive.

As most of the users interested in the LX-100 and D-Lux Type 109 are posting here, I've just updated the thread name to reflect the 2 cameras. (or else there isn't any proper place for the D-Lux owners/interested to post too  )
