Panasonic LUMIX DMC-LX100 & LEICA D-Lux Type 109

Hi guys, is the continuous AF shooting better than Sony A6000's? I mainly want to take continuous shots of running kids and animals indoor.

D-lux is turning out photo with nice colour. So the talks that LX-100 & D-lux JPEG engine (unlike previous models) is the same is untrue.

I don't think I ever said they are the same unless u r shooting raw. Had mentioned long ago when it was between the D-Lux 6 and LX7 that JPEG output is different. I had shamelessly shot both cameras at the same time at the shop back then.

The 'talks' was in a overseas Leica forum. Some apparently bought both & suggested the JPEG from both camera have the same result which many find it 'strange' that Leica will that lazy (we know there are, but that lazy lah)

So are you saying that the LX-100 is not turning out photos with nice colours? Or is the LX-100 also turning out photos with nice colours but different nice colours?

i was saying 2 separate things and not to be read as one sentence lah ;)
- D Lux is producing nice clour.
- LX100 and D Lux JPEG engine is different therefore there is diff in how the photo is rendered.

Let me draw a conclusion over this ages old discussion.

Both are good, u won't go wrong with either one.

And ...

Those who shoot raw won't care & end of the day a person who can't compose or learn the basics won't shoot well even if given a M240 & a 50 Noct.

And there are many other things to consider such as different warranty periods, even local vs international , firmware , support , design (Red Dot ^__^) etc but this is to me the first time the Pana & Leice versions are priced so close together.

yeap its a thumbdrive

couple of shots with LX100 in Korea.

ISO1600, wide open

With dynamic monochrome

sweet hehe...

wonglp's shots are proof that the lumix does colors very well!

haha, thanks for confirming that. vivid mode can do landscape well in most cases, though at times a little too strong. I'm trying to shoot more RAW files for landscapes to see how much I can pull, unfortunately I shld have done that in Korea.

a pano done ystdy ard blue hour @ 75mm.

i find the color and details on the raw files to be nicer (to be expected), but the highlight recovery isn't as good. so its better to underexpose for the highlights. shadow recovery is pretty nice and natural.

if u see the shot below, the white floodlights and pool become pink with highlight recovery... not sure is it because I am editing DNG files converted from the leica raw files.

How does the zoom ring speed of LX100/ Leica cousin compared to Sony's 16-50mm ?
