Panasonic LUMIX DMC-LX100 & LEICA D-Lux Type 109

because of bro Ricleo's delicious photos, I'm going to collect my Type 109 tmr. Your fault ! :bsmilie:

that aside, the Type 109 is inside the shops already with a slightly lower street price.

Anyone wants to do a comparison between the LX100 and Typ 109? Looking forward to see if there are any differences in the photographs.

Heard from my dealer that Leica is now offering a free case to those who go and buy the Typ 109 from their stores but this offer however does not apply for those who had pre-ordered it or buy from their authorised dealers.

One very obvious difference that I find disconcerting is that the lens on the Typ 109 retracts very much more slowly that that of the LX100 during power-off. My dealer told me that he at first thought the camera was faulty when he noticed this on a Typ 109 that he was testing for a customer. I thought the LX100 was slow in retracting but I noticed that the Typ 109 was even slower when he demonstrated the effect to me in the shop.

The auto-open lens cap of the Typ 109 is at least twice the price of that for the LX100 but at least it is already available ex-stock....and the ring seems to be metallic and not plastic.

That's quite bad of Leica hehe.

Don't mind doing if anyone has a lx100 to test with. But anyway the differences will be in jpgs. Raw files both should be the same.

Need to compare to before can see the diff Hehe. Find my 109 retracts quite ok. Zoom speed seems a wee bit faster den the lx100 demo set we tried at funan courtesy of wonglp. But it may just be lower expectations of zoom speed after playing with the Lumix.

Anyone knows if the LR5 profile for the 109 is out yet?

Interesting to read of all these differences that are discovered everyday... dunno if this might be helpful:

Recall I shot a simple video of the LX100 when I had the review unit. Here it is for anyone who might want to make a comparison:

Thanks kandinsky for this video.

After watching this, I think there is no diff in speed between LX100 and Typ 109.

Is the freebie only for pre-order?

Went to Click in the evening and walked out with a new camera. If the LX100 is better, I DON'T WANNA KNOW ABOUT IT!!!:bsmilie::bsmilie::bsmilie:
