Panasonic DMC-GH4

any updates on local stock availability?

Latest update is "No stock"

When next batch coming ? Answer is "dunno" :dunno:

Panasonic only supply to 2 retailers and yet they are no stock ... might as well no need to launch ...

One member here said that, the stock probably will arrive when Panasonic announce GH5 is coming ... :bsmilie:

Panasonic, you are the best !

Have been looking for a couple of weeks now, but not a single store seems to have the camera. Cathay has one set together with the interface, but not keen on spending an additional $2K on something I don't need. But maybe some folks are interested.

Have u try artworkfoto? Sometime ago they posted in fb stating got stock. Good luck!

Yeah I checked with them just yesterday. No stock. :( Seems like a new shipment is not coming before early September.

Else to call pany directly and ask them to refer. They should know who could still have their stock. I remember one time i called them to check on battery and they refered.

Hi sifu Agrivar,

I played with the GH4 abit and i am really impressed with the autofocus ... so much much much faster than my old GH3 !

I also just tested the 4K and tried to edit on FCPX ... OMG, the video is so clear, crisp and sharp ! The best thing is now when we pan and zoomed in FCPX, the IQ of the video does not degrade like previously !

But please note that from playing with the menu, I noticed that the 4K option is ONLY available when the format MOV is selected. You cannot have 4K if AVCHD or MP4 is selected.

Even then, the 4K is only 3840 x 2160 @25p.

If you want a higher 4K, you gotta goto Setup > System Frequency to change to 24p, turn OFF the camera and ON again, only then will you have the option 4096 x 2160 @24p appearing in the Rec Quality tab.

To record at Higher Frame Rates, you must select the option of 100Mps with a VFR available option in the Rec Quality tab. Once this is selected, then the Motion Picture > Variable Frame Rate option is highlighted for you to turn ON or OFF and you can select it to change the Frame rate say to 96fps ...

if you do not select the 100Mps with the VFR available option, the Motion Picture > Variable Frame Rate option will be grey-out ...

To record in 4K, you need a Class U3 SD card that writes at 45MB/s

I have a question, which is the true 4K ?

4096 x 2160 or 3840 x 2160 ?

As both are 2160, the former must the even wider than 16:9 while the latter's ratio is 16:9 ...

Also, why need so wide like 4096 x 2160 ? When is such aspect ratio being used ?

Thanks

I've been using U1 cards for months with no discernible drop in quality(4K 100mbps and 1080p in 200mbps)

Seems if the cards satisfy the writing requirement of 30MB/s SHOULD do fine (YMMV)

Side note, be conservative when playing with curves/master-pedestal as some seem to think this makes the image flatter than the default Cine-D profile but it will introduce unwanted noise even in low iso situations in sunlight. We tend to forget this is not RAW/Log footage.

You might wanna head over to personal-view forums for more info.

Really ? this is good leh ... I didn't know that ... cam save some money ...

The one I have has a writing speed of 45MB/s

But I see most cards only display their reading speed but not writing speed ...
