Panasonic announces the LUMIX G X VARIO 35-100mm / F2.8 / POWER O.I.S

You mean Yodobashi as in visiting the physical store?
If so, yes. You can request for the 5% tax refund as long as your purchase is more than 10,000 yen. If you can't speak Japanese, just show them your passport, they'll understand.
Else look out for those sales staff wearing the language armbands meaning they can speak Chinese/English.

Yes, visiting the store. Will be going to Japan next week and if there will be a 5% tax rebate, it will be great to get it there.
Thanks for the info.

Since you're visiting, you might find that their in-store rebate is better than the 5% tax rebate.
Usually they will have a in-store rebate for their Yodobashi Card members, which can range from 8% to 20/30+%, in which case it's more worth it to use that rebate. (it's either/or, you can't get both)

If you don't have the card, you can either apply there, or try to borrow from someone you know. Usually the in-store rebate is very very worth it.

Tried this .......will wait for Oly's RUMORED 40-150/f2.8 ......

I think it will be heavier, larger and more expensive. 150mm f2.8 at the long end won't make this small or light

Not as impressed with it as the 12-35/f2.8 .......how much more expensive can it be than the present 35-100/f2.8, which is not exactly cheap?

When is this coming to Singapore????

Next month but not sure early or late.

Was at Cam2 at MongKok checking out the 12-35 and 35-100. Was quoted HK$21000 for the pair. No further discount. The 12-35 was HK$8500 whilst the 35-100 was HK$12500. Both comes with international warranty.

It is really shameful for Pany SG... so many enthusiast waiting for this lens until neck long long.. worst thing Pany didn't have a confirmed date or indicative price.. My final decision --- take the risk and order from oversea!

their "international warranty", is it really genuine warranty by local agent or user pay first then claim those type?

Real international warranty card. Not by shop.

Low demand, no choice. We do not have the volume generated by the tourist up north of Hongkong. My last 3 visits to HK makes me believe fully that there is nothing in SG to shop.

The fact is also that SG is one of the most expensive in term of electronics goods in this region... that's even got tourist they also don't buy as much electronics as compare to years back...

Anyway, had placed an order and it should be here by this week.. hope it's in a good piece when arrived...

Did you order frm amazon japan, ebay... ?

finally the lens reached me.. it's from Japan.. point to note is that their way of packing is much better than USA, ensuring that the lens is well protected during handling..

had briefly tested the lens to be working fine.. hopefully has a chance to test it over the weekend..

35-100 wasnt much bigger than the 12-35. Now the water goods in HK keeps dropping, about 9200-9300HKD can get, or about SGD1500
