Panasonic announces the LUMIX G X VARIO 35-100mm / F2.8 / POWER O.I.S

Looks like that's the trend ... 30% below the lowest of Nikon/Canon.

Now we just need a 7-12 f2.8 to poison us. Or an affordable 7-14 f4 that can mount filters.

at least there is 7-14mm for m4/3 at USD900. There is no equivalent Canon FF that offer 14mm effective range.
For nikon, there si 14-24mm, and it also can't mount filters, approx USD1,999.

A frez helped to check out the price in HK yesterday and was quoted 11,500 HKD.

price aside.. it seems like this lens is made in china, unlike the 12-35 which is miJ.. anyone can verify yet?

We are a 2nd tier country to panny mah

agreed! they are inefficient and yet they want to impose higher service cost if we buy PI set...

I'm still waiting for a hands-on test for this zoom lens, I like IF for not changing length when zooming/focusing. If IQ or price is not right, I'll go and get the Oly 75mm f/1.8 instead.

Different lenses different usage.. to me the convenience of a 35-100 f2.8 outweighs the shallower DOF as well as potentially sharper image at 75mm. Shooting events where the participants dont sit still and you cant move from your position, makes the zoom a better buy.. For me.. : )

Found it in Yodabashi Camera in Akihabara for JPY 113,900... ouch! :o Amazon Japan still cheaper, definitely

Thinking of grabbing this from Cam2 or Tin Chueng.

You mean Yodobashi as in visiting the physical store?
If so, yes. You can request for the 5% tax refund as long as your purchase is more than 10,000 yen. If you can't speak Japanese, just show them your passport, they'll understand.
Else look out for those sales staff wearing the language armbands meaning they can speak Chinese/English.
