hehe yeah..

but at least its not as worst as how i used the 52mm close-up filter. coz i totally have a alot of problems with it. due to I tremble alot.

Btw, i saw in ur signature u got a raynox telephoto right?. u using it for fz18? how the overall quality?

i think if you use a tripod the result will be much better or you can try the raynox dcr-250. i know many ppl gets very good result with it.

yah.. that's a 2.2x teleconvertor. i've used it to shoot the moon and i have it uploaded in this thread. the image is acceptable to me considering it's taken with a prosumer.

overall, the FZ-18 is a very fun camera to own. Although i have got myself a EOS 40D, i still cannot bear to part with my FZ-18.

Yup2, I might be getting the raynox next month coz I saw alot of good image captured by it. Tripod is a good thing but sometimes it restrict the movement and position that I wanted. Unless if I wanna take Flower shots. ;)

I agreed about FZ18. But I'm also saving for a DSLR i've fallen . :D

Try adding a diffuser to on the flash, since the flash head is fixed you can't bounce your flash for a balance light.

add diffuser? but wouldn't that make the pic even darker? cause i was saying that even though the external flash is strong, my pics appear dark. maybe u misunderstood what i said. lol.

oh and the head of the flash can rotate up and down. real handy.

Hi Slimo, I am also thinking of getting a lowepro bag for my FZ-18 too! May I know which model did you buy and how much it cost? Thanks!

I finally got a CPL filter for 46mm. Selling at $29 just beside CP Peninsula shop.

care to share the model of the filter? wanna get one too.

mine's a lowepro cirrus 100. bought it at Cathay Photo at marina. not all weather however, but it has a big space to place ur camera, and maybe enough to place filters in together.has small compartments for memory cards and batteries too. oh and it has thick cushioning too. bought it for $25 even though the price tag states $38.50.

Hey thanks Slimo, a spacious bag is what I am looking for. I wish to hold my CPL filter, spare batt, cleaning cloth and my len hood. Luckily i see your thread, i could have just bought it at $38...

Hmm... if the flash head can be rotated, Why not bounce it off a diffuser card to avoid the hash light...

cedfong, a lens hood might not fit in the bag.

oh so it was the harsh light from my flash that made my pics appear dark? i'm confused...

Slimo: classic prob when using old flashes: the preflash probably triggered the strobe too early, so the shutter missed the flashing window.
test is to shoot yourself in a mirror and check the flashes in the picture. Two flash good, one flash bad.

i tried the mirror method and found that only my pop up flash was shown in the pic. so this means that my external flash has been triggered earlier than my pop up flash, as a result the shutter was not able to catch the flash?

Borrow a flash to comfirm whats wrong to your cam or flasher .

use eraser to clean the contact point of the flash to cam .

Diffuser mostly will not under expose the pic ,cos your cam metering from the camera sensor .

For diffuser you can use tracing paper act as it(fold layers to fit your desire result) or use the used film container(clear type) cut a hole to cover the popup flash .

FZ18 able to hook up external flash ?
How is it done?

mine is an old flash mainly use for compact camera. as u see in the pic, the flash hooks to the camera via the screw for tripod.

yup...
how does it syn with the shutter?

somehow it doesn't syn with the shutter. the shutter is unable to capture the flash. too bad la. was hoping to use it so i can use bounce flash. lol.

it's an autoflash I believe, the "eye" on the front of the flash is the sensor. Fires on first flash it sees.
it's a non-digital slave. can google or search CS about slaves.
Not sure if you can convert it into a sync-able flash, is there a socket on the flash gun? if not it's a lost cause.

yup. it fires at my pre-flash. can't convert it cause it doesn't have a socket. haiz...
