Understand that this may be a crazy and frivolous question, but has anyone ever thought of DIY painting their lens or camera bodies?

I'm asking because sometimes when there are slight scratches and dings on my lens and body, I have this urge to paint them over with a permanent marker.

Please advice if there are proper ways to do this. Alternatively if this is a crazy idea please stop me now.

Thanks in advance!

Mate, in my opinion... i think its better to leave slight scratches or user marks on your camera especially if you plan on selling it or else any buyer will think that you are covering something and think that you are being dishonest. you can also watch this.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7_64sDhrK0I so that you will have a better idea.

i've watched that before, and that's part of my 'inspiration' :bsmilie:

assuming there's no plan to sell the equipment, and that the equipment is decently affordable? of course if it's some Leica glass i'd be completely nuts

I believe Pentax has been going thru this avenue by releasing colorful DSLR cameras

But by all means mate, go ahead and give your creative hand and imagination a try . I actually find a "pink" DSLR cool.. except when they put their graffiti on. You never know you might start a trend here... Don't forget to post the pics  ;)

Between painting and sandpapering the camera, I think your choice is 100 times better. :bsmilie:

I look forward to seeing your painted M9.
