This time around, I totally agree with you. So why Singapore should be an exception?
Singapore is not an exception, we are always the world's leading when i comes to applying laws to curb such people :bsmilie:

very good, i saw lot of students eating and drink on the buses or trains.
school dont have social studies nowaday?? ;(
Common citizens have common sense. Common sense is not restricted by the law
In Singapore, some people lack common sense, that why the laws are beyond common sense.

And what if I am?
Eating maybe a bit much to tolerate, but taking a sip of water? I wonder, who will they deal with Caucasian tourists? Singapore is generally bit too hot for them. Taking a sip of water or a cold drink is one way they can tolerate the heat, and the humidity. Wonder, will the SMRT staff start scolding them and issuing fines? And then, how will SMRT ensure the fines are collected.
This is going to be a farce.
Most of us here have flickrs, but some chaps like Rags, William Cho or Artie have some 300 daily views on their uploads, all it takes is for one of them to upload a tongue-in-cheek image and the reputation of Singapore as a tourist destination will drop, and instead be viewed as a backward, draconian and communist state. ;p
Seems like you're pretty pissed with Singaporeans being a non-local resident. Rejected by a local gal recently?
Nothing is more powerful than YOUTUBE now.
Remember a while back we have people who ignored their condition of their windows and a few cases of accident happened. After that every households in Singapore have to engage a qualified window contractor to check and approve the safety of their windows. Now the MRT fines. Why?
Well, all because of a few rebellious and selfish people who take things too far who think that they own their right to eat on the public transport. If everybody has respected the printed notices or rules on the train, this "fine" thing may not have happen. :bsmilie:
i personally thinks that its a inbuild immune system to most of the singaporean i think. cause Singapore is a "fine" country, everywhere we go will see fine signage and notices, over the years, we are so used to it and it just got blanked out whenever we see it.

What is so wrong with having a sip of water in the train? Passengers becoming a nuisance from "water intoxication" :dunno:
Maybe another lame excuse to cut cost of cleaning service eventhough we are paying alot for their services...;(
