Now that I am reading this and will like to apologise for the delay. We sent in reminders and phones calls to the models on the time and date to report. They acknowledged and agreed but when comes to the day of shoot, somehow somewhat something happened and can't turned up. We have no choice but to find an urgent replacement.

We do hope that such things won't happen again and it won't benefit us in anyways as well.

Sorry once again.

anyway . Next time dont engage those models who last min back out , and give tons of excuses saying that " Oh last night , Club until very late. So couldnt make it this morning "

Just blacklist them, they are just affecting ur business and ur name. .
Dont give chance.

I remember there's one shoot i joined last year. It was full house around 24 photofrapher . And on the thread the organiser said , full house bring in another model, so total is 4. Here is how it goes, model A turned up , model B said HIP HOP isint a style but i also dont know why did she agree to the organiser , model C came 1 Hr later , Model D said she went church , and the pastor didnt let her go out and she was 2hrs late, model D CAME in a casual outfit when it was a hip hop theme, and in the end, she went home.

We paid like 55$ for 4 Models, in the end its 2 Models.

If model has this kinda of attitude and not taking it seriously and thinks that photographer/Organiser need to beg the model and she feel shiok abit it . than im sorry, modeling isn't your thing to do. Attitude comes first , NOT pride.

Did you mention you would include drinks in the shoots? I searched your threads and found nothing.

I don't know if it was referring to me but perhaps with drinks is a good add on service to the photographers. This can be work out I guessed.:dunno:

plus la u're a shoot organizer not a glorifed caterer...for them to expect drinks is more than alittle silly.

I understand bro and that's why the most nervious part of the organising and not offending anyone whom made the effort to come down early in the morning to shoot is to ensure the presence of the models. For this simple reason, I am considering I am going to continue organising shoots after my subscription is over, it is stressful man. I don't get to sleep till after the whole event is over and after lunch with the regular photographers, heading bed and die on bed.

Well understand.

Just in short , Just Blacklist those who aeroplane you :)

you dont deserve this treatment. although i never been to your shoot.

well my experience was quite sometime back last year around. and that was my first shoot and had bad experience with it . all photographer squeezing and shooting the model. and that time 12:1 ratio is really mad . Everybody squeezing each other.

would u like fries with that? typical expect everything but dun wanna pay.

If you have been to Tanjong beach before, you should know that there is no way you can buy drinks there if you forgot to bring yourself. Unless you wanna go buy beer from KM8 pub (try buy plain water there if you have $$ to waste), or buy from vending machine (a. at pahlawan or b. at the other side of the tanjong beach which is very far).

Its not matter of pay or paying. or french fries in that matter, although its one of my favorite food !! I would gladly join the shoot if they serve french fries for free ! But too bad i was busy so i can't attend the shoot.

My friend forgot to buy a drink on the way since he woke up late. He stuck at the beach for like 3 hours with no drinks. It might seem so simple, but i wanna see you try surviving at the beach, shooting, for like 3 hours without drinks. He complained if group shoot at cs suppose to be like this ? first time experience, already so bad.

I will drop him a personal apology and offer him a cool drink next time round. This can be arranged and offered as part of our service to photographers. Why not. I guessed water or packed drinks are fine. As for Beer...........

i'm sorry, but your friend woke up late, didn't bring his drinks, then blames the organiser for not providing any drinks?

oh dear.

it's like waking up late for a job interview and forgetting your resume. then blaming the interviewer for not printing out your resume.

ya lor...its just how you market yourself, drinnks are not compulsory, since TS didnt mention the organiser, might not be you but you would have record of those who attended your shoot right?

Models don't turn up - blacklist them, esp those more than once or give excuse like forget about it! No such thing as forget if you agreed on a meetup photosession.

When organise shoot insist no refund for photographers when they signed up! They don't come that day their own problem. Tell him / her to put themselves in the organizer's shoes.

Organizers also need to keep promises - but if models and phtographers don't do as they promised what can organizers do :dunno:

As for water no thanks - i as a photographer usually bring my own to qeunch thirst, unless the model treat me or vice versa during a break.

But did you pay 35$ for the job interview ? :bsmilie: Can't use that logic la bro. Try again.

For me - i will always bring my own drinks, because im a regular shooter. But these "budget" shoots attract newbie photographers who never join group shoot before, so they not pro like you. Not everyone knows that you can't buy drinks at tanjong beach unless you pay crazy $$ from the pub, or the vending place which is located at the very ulu place of sentosa (the far end)

your friend dun bring his own that is his tai chi. you think the organizer is there to be your mother is it? this is a case of not being prepared himself but claim its the organizer's responsibility to make sure he is quenched. childish bs...:thumbsd:

ya so outrageous for merchants there to make a quick buck

What can i say, singaporeans like that. Must be prepared for something like this. :bsmilie: Not everyone is like you loh. :bsmilie:

I know that no one is perfect, even the godly charby, still kena flame from Deadpoet. Though i really salute charby, try organizing a shoot with 6-8 models, and all of them arrive on time and never mia Now that is something.

To make quick buck

organize a mass orgy shoot, pay the models like 40$/hour (i read this from one of the models blog). Get like 3 models.

Ratio = 18 photographers

Charge at least 38$ each (or 35$ or whatever)

18x 38$ = ?

Quick buck

OR

everyone should be organizer. They can organize shoot, and can shoot the models for free. Just an idea yah

Anyone here have had bad experience with organisers? like promise of equipment etc but on the day nothing as promised. eg: relectors and lighting euipement & Model's make up and everything else not as theme!!

If the make up and hair are bad. Are we liable to demand the organiser redo it? How bad? you'll not believe it. ( this part i can accept due to diff MUA having diff sort of style) but the latter i am deeply concern and troubled!

Also i am just curious if it's common for the organiser to JOIN IN the shoot together with the PAID photographers? obvious there are 5-6 photographers already do you still fight for a place and of cos he(organsier gets the best angles)

I make it feels like he engage model for private shoot and "invite: us to pay to offset his expenses!

For the benifit of the community i think we should do some weeding!

Chill guys and let's stick to the initial discussion. It is getting off topic.:bsmilie:

In regards whether wheresmycheese is going to reveal or not reveal who the organisor is in respect of him / her, let's us (the organisors) try to improve from where we are all at now whether the reputable ones or the newbie ones like us. There is so much to learn from all these and most important of all, some of the good CS bros I knew for the pointers they shared. I am off this thread. Good night guys

Thanks for listening, i hope your next group shoot will be better. You see, by posting this, i believe you won't make the same mistake again. If you want your shoot to be successful everytime, you need to keep your standard up. And you can start that by building your rep.

Back to the topic.....For me, i would recommend joining group shoots organized by experienced organizer such as Modellin (Ivan), Charby, AhV, etc etc.

Modellin for example - Provides ON SITE support. Wind machine + Reflector for the win. Yes, he wont give you drinks, and yes its expensive...but these are experienced models from overseas (you don't get to shoot them everyday), compared to all those budget XMM shoots. Sadly most "shooters" these days only cares about how many models they're shooting and the cheaper, the better. (aka. the mass orgy shoots). And this kind of "budget" shoot will attract all kinds of people....from those who using prosumer camera, to those who will complain for drinks. Although, i would love to see the day Modellin's kakis complaining about drinks and french fries :bsmilie:

As for organizer who dont keep promises.... Since i joined this site in November, there are LOADS and loads of new organizer who only here to make quick bucks. Take a look at the Photoshoot forum, it's not even funny. The sad thing is, most of them doesnt even care about the standard of the shoots. And i heard some horror stories about models being underpaid for the "mass orgy shoot" - i feel sorry for them. So if you want to defend these organizers, be my guess. You can read my calculation part again above, its a simple math really.

Bottomline - To avoid a long wall of text

If you really want a good shooting experience, why not try joining photoshoot organized by those experienced ones i mention above. They won't dissapoint you for sure.

nope, i was not referring to you bro! sorry it it caused you trouble with fingers wrongly being pointed to you. accept my sincere apology ! :)

For the masses the shot was organized by dennisc, He look pretty young. prob late teens to mid twenties. how bad was it? to start the makeup and everything was wrong from the start with them coming 30min late and not informing us. we had to call them. that is only the tip of the iceberg(1/8 of an iceberg can be seen above water)

The organizer should've been more responsible and if you are organising a shoot you shouldn't be shooting with your own interest in heart but to assist and probably help out fellow photographers.

This is only my 2nd paid shoot i have been too with the first being Ivan's and i must say i am deeply sadden by this photoshoot. maybe i should have went for charby's one instead, which i see so many even veterans wedding photographers.

End up we have to make the best of what we have. i didnt managed to get a few gd shots but not as i expect. nevertheless i hope the organizer can learn from this and bounce back!!

This is totally misleading, unfair, and utterly rubbish.:nono:

In any trade, there are always some black sheeps ..... just like here, we have some bad organizers as well as some selfish photographers.

No doubt, the above mentioned organizers are good but many of the others are not that bad either. Different organizers serve different photographers' need. Please do not generalize things, and do not assume that "the other" organizers are all out to make quick bucks only! Have some consideration for their feelings :dunno:

It's hard work and if there is profit, they deserve it.
