organisers who don't keep promises!!!

This is totally misleading, unfair, and utterly rubbish.:nono:

In any trade, there are always some black sheeps ..... just like here, we have some bad organizers as well as some selfish photographers.

No doubt, the above mentioned organizers are good but many of the others are not that bad either. Different organizers serve different photographers' need. Please do not generalize things, and do not assume that "the other" organizers are all out to make quick bucks only! Have some consideration for their feelings :dunno:

It's hard work and if there is profit, they deserve it.

i agree. even thou the organizer may cut corners and not keep his promise, he still has to go thru the trouble of organizing and all. but there are really a few out to make a quick buck.

btw i agree with DP on this here

as an ex-organiser, I say...

If I were an organiser again, I will still go UNARMED ... if i want to shoot, i will join another shoot...why should I shoot at the expense of others during my own shoot ? and increase the shooting ratio by + 1....... what was my duty then ?

set up things ( environment, model, make up etc ) swee swee and bring the necessary stuffs (e.g. TWO freaking HUGE reflectors, portable strobes, light stands, changing tent... etc. The only camera bags are ALL my participants' .... and I take it on myself to watch their PRECIOUS while they shoot and share tips/ pointers

My past participants can vouch for me :)

My advice is... choose another organiser who will not 'spoil your day' in the future and deliver what he/ she promised ....

glad you spoke up, this is the way man! no wonder there are good reviews about you

yeah. thanks for the input i guess now everyone knows who the organizer is.

I feel the organizer may shoot but at the consent of us his customers or maybe after the whole thing a few quick ones not shoot every location and pose. He even posed her his way and just shoot. its like he cared only for himself. BTW he screwed up the model's make up as well... see mag in the afternoon an you know wad i mean!!

morning shots were pretty gd her makeup was light and all.

i wanted to bring reflectors but i tot since he said he providing why not.. end up that joker only brought his camera ba an his camera with nice flash unit FOR himself!!

i totally agree with you. thats why i signed up i thought i will be in good hands apparently not. the pose the model with the sun behind her facing us. I claim not to be a pro but tell me an experience photographer who will do it without reflector.

Heng Ah ... everything went well till the day of shoot, that morning, i gave an excuse and never turn up for the shoot, my intuition saves the day, and 56 bucks of course!
Not to mention a LOUSY location. Instead of a runaway bride, i made a HOME run. Gonna buy myself a supper!

NO MORE photoshoot in a long while. Enough of receiving SMS crap like "transfer $$$ to POSB savings XXXXXXXXX and SMS me the trans #". Heck!

guess organizer going to start a thread that says shooters who don't keep promises :(

...............that morning, i gave an excuse and never turn up for the shoot,!................
:nono::nono::nono:
be a man ... no need to give any excuses ... just tell the organizer the real reason/s. If you have no confidence in him or the shoot, tell him. Or if you have any personal problem, let him know. One day you may wear his shoes
and for goodness sake, don't wait until the last mins to cancel any appointment!:thumbsd:

This organiser is a real joker. I had a bad exprience with him with a shoot he organised.
1) the shoot was delayed almost an hour. Photographers were waiting aimlessly not knowing what is the delay. When the shoot is going to start then he explained.
2) shoot location was changed last min. from a posh place to a lowdown place.
3) there was drinks provided but is a few of those 1 litres bottles without cups. how are we suppose to drink without the cups.
4) the organiser itself was shooting. im ok with it if he is not standing in people's way. but he was even asking us to hold on asking the model to look at the pose on his mobile phone. we photographers was waiting behind for him.
5) props that was mentioned in the thread was not even seen at all.
6) and he even bring 2 accompanies that he brought. one did not shoot but the other shoot.

Bingo.....

It's not whether the organizer also shoots or not, but whether the organizer delivers. If the organizer delivers, who cares if he were also shooting?

If not, nothing else matters.

Shouldn't the photographers demand a refund and WALK?

Then again, Hotel 81 cost $X, hotel at Orchard/Raffles cost $5X. The numbers won't work, and it's clearly a bait and switch, yet people joined, why? Wishful thinking? Caveat emptor.

bros and sis, dont argue over such petty things ....

just for your information, long before your time, organizers NEVER provide refreshments at all. Photographers will have to buy their own during interval.
It is only here at CS that organizers got creative and competitive that they started serving home-made breakfast and drinks .... :dunno:

just take it that any refreshments provided is a bonus and you will be more appreciative. :sweatsm:

Dennisc, the organizer for the Sun shoot walked all the way (200m) to buy Frappuccino from Starbucks Coffee for all of us (must have cost him around $50). Frankly I never expected anything from him since the shoot is rather budget but that was a very generous act from him.
