Opinion to Decide to buy Nikon D7000 or Pentax K5

hahah the digression here is amusing.

Dude,bumperbees, Just get what you are comfortable with. Even if it is intangible factors. Such as, " oh i don't want to be seen with a pentax, being seen with a nikon is cooler" even such whimsical factors will affect you and your joy for photography. Most importantly its capturing the moments you treasure in your life. It is your own personal gateway to expressing yourself in your photos. Therefore, i believe being comfortable with what you have is imperative.

Both are very good cameras.
At this point of time, all cameras are really good and a choice between any of them is a matter of preference.
The main strength of the K5 is the on-camera SR, very low chroma noise at high ISO, high quality small primes and weather sealing in a full mag alloy body.

Range of lenses is fine. 12mm to 300mm lenses are all avaliable. 8mm to 500mm is avaliable considering 3rd party options. There are unique offerings too that no other camera maker has; check out the FA and DA limited series of lenses; unique, well built primes with a very good balance between size, speed, rendering, sharpness.

No wrong choice, just what you feel gives you the better deal.

Oh no, I sold off my 18-55 and my 55-200, I am no longer a true photographer :cry:

But anyway, TS, I'd stick to Nikon for now since you never know what Ricoh does to Pentax. Might be good, might be bad, but I'm not the type who really likes to gamble, so I'd play safe by sticking to any brand other than Pentax (for now).

I think regardless of the fact that Ricoh has acquired Pentax Imaging Systems Division, cameras like the K-r and K-5 remain among the best entry-to-intermediate DSLRs out there

no one answer yet... okie, here is the standard answer..... Not sure, buy both, then see which one you dont like, sell it away at the Marketplace....

The advise to TS is... go try both the camera..... somehow, magically, you will find the answer..... if you still cant... then ask to try the Canon, Sony, Olympus, Panasonic.... If million of a chance you still cannot..... just buy any P&S.....
