I did make noise when I was there recently abt FOZ members not getting any car park discounts, got an email a couple of days later. Not very positive though:

We would like to thank you for your valuable feedback and for being a loyal
Friend of the Zoo. We would like to apologise if our communication
concerning the implementation of parking fee payments for our members did
not adequately convey our intent.

At Wildlife Reserves Singapore, our objective is to provide visitors and
members a balanced programme for the purpose of recreation, education and
conservation. As an Institute of Public Character, it is also important that
we are prudent in our measures. Maintaining all aspects of a membership is
costly hence we had to cease the free entitlement to the Zoo and Night
Safari car park for members to increase operational efficiency.

We had considered all avenues before any decision was taken. Nonetheless,
the cost of maintaining the car park serving the Singapore Zoo and the Night
Safari has been high. As such, we seek your understanding in accepting the
new membership policy.

Our new membership repackaging efforts have been reasonably priced to
justify member's benefits. Currently, a non-member family consisting of two
adults and three children would have to pay a total admission fee of $100
for two visits. Contrary to this, our new membership scheme only requires a
similar sized family to pay $100 per annum to enjoy unlimited visits. In
addition, members are also entitled to other benefits, including further
discounts at our duty-free and F&B outlets.

We hope this email puts in better context the rationale behind our
membership policy for the Singapore Zoo, Jurong BirdPark and Night Safari.
We look forward to your continual support and to seeing you at our parks
once again.

How many members who would be going to the zoo often for photo taking and do not need a Family Category FOZ/FOB/WU?

Is it feasible for the club to purchase a Corporate Membership? It costs about $4000 per year and allow up to 16 pax to visit each day.

Just a suggestion.

Currently with nearly 9,500 members in CS each of us can contribute $0.50 to get the Corporate Membership!

To Wildlife Reserves officials: Pls reinstate Individual/Dual Memberships for FOZ/FOB!

YEAH! Pls bring the indiv/dual membership back!

I find their reply less than satisfactory

Quoted by S_wrx and reply

We have to review our business responsibility to ensure that we do not compromise the integrity of our donation collected through the membership fee at the expense of the critical mass

Huh, what do they mean by this cryptic statement?

It became apparent to us that maintaining all aspects of a membership would be costly and inevitable we have no choice but to adjust our membership format in order to operate effectively.

Why is it costly to maintain various memberships? There is no labour involved and only marginal administrative work

Our one single purpose is to create a balance and provide good educational and entertainment value for all to enjoy. Though we value each and every contribution through our membership, it is also important that we are prudent in our measures.

If it is their intention to provide good educational and entertainment value for all to enjoy, then surely their move has in fact excluded many non families

One of the reasons we have removed all other categories was due to economy of scale, notwithstanding the fact that many other issues had been discusssed prior to this decision. For a start, 90 % of our members are made up of 2 adults + 3 children.

what economies of scale? Economies of scale arises only when you purchase items in bulk. We're not talking about building houses but just membership that does not alter any of their operations in any way

Our policies towards our donor relations have always been predisposed to customer satisfaction. And it has never been our intention to be rigid and inflexible. Unfortunately as an Institute of Public Character, we do have our constraints and considerations.

Again they are using very cryptic language here. What donor relations and what customer satisfaction? In fact it is customer dissatisfaction now. And if it is an Institute of Public Character, isn't it imperative that they cater more to the needs of the patronising public rather than their bottomline?

We hope that you would accept our sincerity and not let this adjustment affect your relation with us. "

sincerity?

Seems like there is enough babies to go around after all! 3 children and 2 adults, and that's 90% of FOZ membership. Good for the country! There should be no worries of not having enough babies.

Maybe people with less than 2 children do not seem to see it viable to be FOZ membership, hence pay entry fees, hence bigger profit for the zoo.

I was told that the Individual category of FOZ might have already been reinstated/reintroduced. Some of you might want to email to the zoo to verify this.
