I am surprised by this..

To be honest..
I was more excited by the lens than the body.. I think this lens will only balance well with a body with a substantial grip..

when store going to start selling for walk-in siah.

Anyone knows where I can molest the em1? @_@

Hi guys,
I have been waiting for a chance to hands on em1 which explain why I keep pushing the chance to purchase em5. Decided on my combi lens to be 12-35 until 12-40 came into the picture. As this are the range I am using on my platform so ideally it will be suitable. Seen some of u guys are letting go of the 12-40, mind sharing why ? Is it the af or lQ issue?

Any idea where can we get a hands on of both the body and lens before purchase ? Em1 PDAF caught my eye as I am used to PDAF.

Thks in advance guys.
Happy molesting em1 to those guys who already got it.

Me also hyper excited about 12-40mm F2.8 but still puzzled about many early birds selling their 12-40mm lens. I am about to buy one but still hold on as I would like to compare between Panny12-35(I have it) and Oly 12-40 in term of IQ. Actually I am pleased with my 12-35mm as it is still serving me good.

Ya I have the pana 12-35 also and love it to bits other than not so shallow dof (not fault of the lens). I highly doubt that the IQ difference will be significant. If prices were comparable, I would get the oly mainly for the extra 5mm. But as it is, ppl selling in bns going asking $1.4k which is too high for me.

I m letting go mine as I wanted to use with prime lens instead, not because of performance issues with the Pro lens. Did not actually shoot with it though, apart from testing in shop, hence can't tell how good is it for me.

End of nov, I heard...

12-40 lens alone would be next year, jan 14.

Again, prelim info only, nothing is firm yet.

Hi guys,
Em1 PDAF caught my eye as I am used to PDAF.
do remember that PDAF works when mounted with 4/3 lens..

with m4/3 lens the camera decides whether to use CDAF or PDAF?..
there is no way at the moment to tell the camera to use PDAF only when using m4/3 lens..
which is a bit of a bummer..

Most probably it never uses PDAF only like other on-sensor PDAF systems. They don't work without CDAF.

Plus Panny 12-35mm is smaller than Oy12-40mm. Yes I found $1.4k too steeper given no full box of lens alone. I rather await next year for good price if I plan to sell my 12-35mm.

Agree. Seem like 1.4k for kit lens is expensive.
Unless you cannot wait for 2-3months...

Hi Vengels,

Thanks for the reminder. My bad for not being aware of the inability to determine the choice of either PDAF or CDAF on m4/3.
In that case there might be no PDAF usage at all. Hmm..

Most probably there is but only if good light. Those systems don't contain a dedicated PDAF sensor, they simply have a modified micro lens array and utilize some of the photodiodes on the sensor for PDAF. It can't compete with a SLR yet and isn't even good enough to work on it's own, it still relies on CDAF.
