OMG! Look at the EM-1 aka the now official E-M1 Thread

is it ugly?

another bad on/off switch position from olympus. E-M5 was bad, but still ok. E-P5 position is sweet. E-M1 placing on the left is ergonomically flawed. In fact, the whole E-M1 design is rather flawed. I am really wondering if this is THE OMD pro we are all waiting for. Looks like some bad prototype with poor ergonomics.

It's a prototype whose authenticity isn't proved :) relax. So far I haven't been disappointed once by the bodies Oly has released so I'm hoping all these will be fixed by release.

Honestly the one and only design from Pana that bowled me away is the GX7.

(Ok , I gotta confess I was wrong about Pana being nice enough to improve the AF in the 20/1.7 MKII but its always good to hope )

Many said the same thing about the E-1, but it turned out to be the best camera that I have ever used. That said, this product has yet to be released, so the verdict can only be given when we lay our hands on it.

Hmm.. thought i read some where this em1 accepts both 43 n m43 lenses.... but hw cm in the video leaked they are still using a mmf3 to use the 43 lens?

Understand you got the sources from 43rumors at this link
http://www.43rumors.com/ft4-possible-e-m5-description/

However this link(also from 43rumors) below has already show that it supports m43 only, is that it can autofocus using PDAF so that 4/3 lens are indeed works very well if combine with this camera... ...

Look at E1 vs E-M1
E1 was built as a DLSR alternative in mind ... E-M1 is neither here nor there.

To me, the best Panasonic ergonomically is the GF1 ... and now GX7 is improving on it. If the 16mega pixel sensor of Panasonic can match Sony's... GX7 will be a real deal.

I have always considered this form factor as "the ultimate PnS upgrade". But the ergonomics will never work for me since the glass I use is always likely heavy. I don't shoot with primes or pancake lenses.

I will get a EM1 over a GX7 any time of the day ;)

And I find the EM1 absolutely stunning... from that poll... look like I am one of the few who think so...

And in terms of look... If GX7 is the only m4/3 camera out there while all other mirrorless cameras are still in stock... I will pick up a Fujifilm XE1.

To me the real lookers would be,

1) OMD EM5 or EM1 (both look stunning to me)
2) EP5
3) XE1
4) Xpro1
5) NEX-7
6) EOS-M (thrown in for good measure)

Oh well... Beauty truely lies in the eye of the beholder.

Then If you like the em1 look n feel, I'm not sure why the GH3 isn't on your list? It's a great form factor with very comfortable grip and its built like a tank.

I think G6 look better than GH3.
To me, the best looking mirrorless cameras are in this order, best first.
1. E-P5
2. E-M5
3. X100S
.
.
if stretch a bit, the M240.

Well... not sure why I would like GH3, and for a GH3 look, I might as well get a Canon 100D which I can use my entire range of Canon EF and EF-S lenses and in my opinion looked nicer too. Somehow, Panasonic and I just don't click, and I don't like Panasonic's look and feel. It is like, why I like a Hummer H3 and not a jeep.

And it is like I asking you back, do you like GH3? If you like, why you don't like EM1? And if you don't like, well... that is alright too.

I would have prefered the EM1 to have a removable/customisable grip similar to the OMD EM5. I nvr saw the need for the extra big handgrip on the OMD given the size of native m4/3 lenses. Users of the larger 4/3 zuiko lenses can choose to get the optional battery grips for better support.

the point of the OMD is to emulate the film OM series, which are small compact and slim, with that signature hump on top for the VF. The OMD EM5 achieves this nicely. The EM1 looks like a cross-breed of the OM and the E1 like what Milez posted earlier.

I will stick to my OMD, and perhaps get the GX7 too....hopefully there will be a smaller replacement for the OMD.

I agree! I prefer not to have "too-similar" looks of my OMD if I get EM1. My heart goes for GX7 but I need to read honest feedback 1st once GX7 launches officially here. Same goes for EM1 before I can decide which camera is a "must-have" for my second cameras.

That I agreed completely. When it came to ergonomic of something and what you find incredible might not float my boat and what I find stunning might look senseless to others.

Btw, I had bought a third party grip for my OMD, I find the look okay although everyone that I showed it to, tell me it look shxt.

if the rumors for EM-1 were all true , it is marketed at the 4/3 users too. Imagine using 4/3 and M4/3 lenses all on one body without any appreciable delay in AF speeds !

As such the size of the EM-1 or its grip can't be too small. Comparing the EM-1 against the E5 for example , I must definitely say the EM-1 will be definitely a worth to wait for release.

Has everyone forgotten abt the rumored fast zoom from Oly ? If Oly comes out with a MFT 12-50/2.0 , I eat bread for months also worth it haha. (And yes , I'll definitely let go my 12-35/2.8 immed)

Wondering how many still have the 43 high or superhigh grade lens around especially those people who completely switched to m43 bodies..

Me. Stupid enough to still be keeping 14-150, 14-54, 50-200 and 135-400

Don't think u r stupid to do so, heard some of the FT lenses are superbly sharp like the 12-60 /f2.8-4. :)

Glass are as useful as they have support. These lenses all have electronics and motors inside. Heaven forbid if Olympus quietly runs out of parts to repair these lenses.

Parts will never quietly runs out so long the lenses are still in production.

Right :)
Was chatting with the Oly technician Donald just yesterday. You can rest safely assured that parts will be available.

In fact I just asked them to find a VF-1 and yeap , they managed to dig out one.
