Do you know, if compare to other 18mm lenses (manual ones) how does this one stack up to the rest?

Have you tried shooting with the sun by the side, or slightly in front... How's the flare, if any at all.

I have not tested a lot of 18mm. I would think this lens has to be up there. This is based on the almost lack of linear distortion and the ability to give a 3D feel. Even the modern Zeiss 21 has a wavy distortion which goes to say a lot about this lens being ahead of its time. IMO, there is no perfect WA. This one wins as it is so small and so very usable.

This lens do flare very easily or reduces contrast with the sun coming from ~30-60 degrees. But then it is also a good indication that it will be better for my eyes to avoid such scenes.

Should there still be any doubts on OM 18. Check out the resolving power! At 250g, there isn't another UWA like it.

Taken by 5D2, 21MP which is all the more impressive, isn't it? If you find hard enough, it will show up. I waited about 1 year before coming across one. Good things don't drop from the sky

I wouldn't say I gave up the 21/3.5 but I like wider perspective so the 18mm is a natural choice. Actually the 21/3.5 performs better wide open and is smaller and more convenient to have in the bag. I still have both.

So have you had enough fun with the Pentax and decide to come back to the OM side?

Having fun with Pentax which is a much lighter set-up. The Limitted lenses are just wonderful and the Pentax A manual lenses are extremely good too. Unfortunately, these lenses need some modification for use on Canon FF, otherwise, they should be up there with the best.
