Anthony, I heard that the 35f2 has the problem that some copies are not that well-made, in terms of colour and sharpness, and it's a bit of hit and miss?

That's what many said about this lens. Being a 35f2, there are more older variations and these are the ones that can be problematic. The "made in japan" printed on the lens rim version should be alright. Mine bears s/no 15xxxx and I was told those with s/no above 15xxxx are more consistent. I used to own the 35f2.8 which was very well corrected and very sharp wide open but I didn't like it's rendering, not as dramatic as the 35f2, some call it painterly.

I have some example.
100mm f2

I love my 50mm f1.2 and 55mm f1.2 also.

I noticed all your shots vignette quite badly. Are these post processed or off camera vignetting?

Here is one from a cheaper alternative, the OM 50f3.5 wide open.

Anthony, how do you like this 50/3.5 macro? I just received my copy and found that I have to get very close to get 1:2 magnification. In fact, it seems more useful as a close focusing lens than a macro lens. The dilemma is as a close focusing lens, the bokeh is probably more diffuse than a 50/1.4. So would also like to find out which, out of the 2 50mm, you would bring out more often and why.

btw, is it ok to post a picture in this forum more than 1 in a day? just read the rules...just wanna make sure:)

I think just post whatever you want to show or discuss with regards to OM. It is too rigid to kill off any discussion prematurely. Big ideas comes from small ones.

I am starting to observed that OM lenses seems to handle green better....not sure if I am alone in this observation.

I use my 50f3.5 macro mostly for shooting the fishing rods that I customise, which is my other long time hobby. I will bring it out only when I want to shoot flowers or stills. The 50f1.4 is permanently in my bag, not the macro. I have an OM 25x extension tube for it but seldom shoot macro. You are right, all OM lenses handle green extremely well.

I own a 28mm f/2... Loving it...
Considering whether to send it for cleaning or not as some vapour is inside, maybe due to the difference in humidity when it's being transfered to me from Japan...

Just Downstairs

I may know where your downstairs is . There is an overhead bridge in front and a childcare nearby, right? :) Just put your lens out in the sun. The vapour should evaporate.

OM 28f2 is legendary and is reputed to be better than 35f2. Nice photos, what film did you use? Like MWP said, leave it under the sun for a short while or in your dry cabi adjusted to about RHD 30 and it shuld go off.

wah..so many buying 28/2. I think the price went up after I sold mine. Now these 28/2 are priced on the high side. I am in a dilemma whether to stay with 28mm or go for the amazing 24/2.8.

A friend gave me a bundle offer I couldn't resist. We guys should organise a OM outing sometime. Could be fun.

I will start a new OM Outing thread soon. Any dates and venue suggestion for the outing will be appreciated.

By the way, does anyone heard of this?

Looks like I didn't make a wrong choice of choosing 28 f2 after all... The vapour is in between the lens elements, i don't know whether it's good to put it under the sun, as u know the sunrays are quite poisonous hahaha... perhaps i should try.

Yes, we should! Let me feel the other lenses! My 100mm f/2.8 and 135mm f/3.5 are on their way into my hand he he he. My first attempt to try something new focal length >50mm!!

I haven't seen something like that OM 5D before...?

My parents stay there. You make the place looks more beautiful than it is. It is quite harmless to put the lens out in the sun for short duration. Do not attempt to open up the lens. I read somewhere that these CRC lenses are very hard to put back together.

Cameras and lenses are merely tools to capture the nuances of my daily life. Plus you don't need AF for that. Thanks for the concern though, its very heart-warming;)

er , anyway . any of u guys here know where to get the little small metal ball that fits inside the shutter adjust ring of OM1n. it allows it to produce the click sound . i was doing some clean up and simple repair the other day, and dropped it ... never able to find it till now . :( .

The metal ball bearings are easy to find. But to get the right size may be difficult. Try bicycle repair shops, any hardware shops, sungei road to see if can savage from old junks, sim lim tower or drop by one of the camera repair shops.

Give our fellow member 'fatique' a PM, maybe he can help you, or like MWP said, go down to Peninsula, one of the camera repair shops should be able to help.
