Heh bro .. I forgot to let u try the lens today , it was in my bag all along
Nice! With the hood even more sexy~
Anybody uses black body with silver lens?
Lol. Thanks for forgetting... This thread has gotten me thinking of the 17 f1.8 as well. My Nex6, 5D and 1D3 all have fairly loud shutters which may wake my baby up so the EPL5 is really proving its worth now.
Hi Keith, between 17mm and 25mm f1.8, which one do you prefer? If I want to take pics of food, which lens will be better for it?

Frankly I can't answer that really as it goes back to your personal preference for 35mm vs 50mm though most likely I'll end up with the 17/1.8 as primarily I know I prefer 35mm doing street shooting vs 50mm. I'm attracted to the 25/1.8 this time round simply as I know it's IQ is close to the 45/1.8 and given its weight and price point , it's really a superb deal.
The 17 has also been 'upgraded' in a certain sense too with the EM1 which provides individual lens profiles in its firmware. Construction wise , the 17/1.8 definitely is better than the 25/1.8 and this is reflected in the diff in costs between them. The 17/1.8 has a snap focus mechanism which I find really useful and not avail on the 25/1.8 too.
Both lenses have very similar min focusing distances of around 25cm too.
Come.. just dug out for u bro
from 17/1.8.
from 25/1.8
All shot wide open on EM1. Did JPEGS instead of RAW hence RAWs will be even better.
Noooooooooooooooo
brothose photos were just taken casually & not the representation of the limits of the lenses. I'm sure u know they will be even better if composition was improved and with even better PP. I'm not good with PP
only crop, adjust exposure and constrast mostly.
One day when everything stabilises we will meet up to try out the 17 and 25! And hopefully have more cash by then.. =)
another taken by the 25/1.8 mounted on the EM1
OOC JPEG, shot wide open. The color reproduction wow, slurp.
Colour reproduction was what really got me hooked onto this.. Haha or are the colours just a Oly thing? I say this because my Sony jpgs are not as great.
My friend using a Sony NEX, he also commented that the OOC Jpeg colors from my EPL-5 looks much better than the ones from his camera.
