Olympus Announces the M.ZUIKO DIGITAL 25mm F1.8 (50mm, 35mm equivalent)

Just got the lens for lesser than 2 hours. Wow. Sharpness is as rated, 45/1.8 category and as expected, fast enough for street shooting at the classic 50mm FL.

just some shots to show the sharpness.

Bro , wait till u try the 75mm =.=
I nearly walked out with the 25mm and 75mm. Luckily wifey was there and gave me a 'loving' look.

Keith, I'm in a dilemma based on my budget. So which one did you get

The 25 :)
Actually the main factor u should consider is the focal length first. It's not easy to get used to shooting at 150mm equivalent and 50mm is definitely a more everyday lens.

It's just that the IQ of the 75/1.8 is absolutely at the top. And yes , the price too haha. Best price I can find so far is $11xx for the 75.

Poisonous? lol
The more I shoot the more I like this lens.

Yes been drooling in the 75mm but for its price, either I can buy a 12-40, or a 25+45mm 1.8 combo.

I used too shoot at 85mm when outdoors where I find the bokeh very nice. But for the most part, I shoot indoors office or home space. I used to like the 25mm 1.4 Leica but remember I got annoyed with the rattle snake sound which then I sold and bought ur 17mm... The 17mm was nice but I found I need to step closer further. As such, since I'm after for bokeh and quality, hence considering these and the 45mm combo. Otherwise, the 12-40 but sacrifices bokeh but gain in versatility... Hard to choose hehehehe

its not difficult to produce blurred images from the 12-40mm too :) I've the 17, 25, 45 and 12-40/2.8 with the 14-45 and OM50/1.8 as a backup and i don't really need much else other than the upcoming Oly7-14Pro. The P25/1.4 is really sharp but comparing with the O25mm, I'll defn take the O25 instead.

just a random shot from the 12-40mm/2.8 and ya, better results (blurrness) definitely can be produced :)

I have the Olympus 17mm F1.8. Thinking if I should sell it and get the 25mm F1.8?

In the same boat as you mate. I think it will all boil down to your focal length needs.
Sigh decisions decisions decisions :(

Have succumbed  It is Made in Japan, probably for the initial batches. IIRC, was the 12mm initial batches MIJ as well?
