Olympus Announces the M.ZUIKO DIGITAL 25mm F1.8 (50mm, 35mm equivalent)

Some pics of my block cat from my evening walk. The 3th and 4th pics are at ISO 4000. Am quite surprised at how sharp they still are.

Nice pics bro! And a nice collection you have there too! I have always like the Warhammer miniatures but too costly plus I dun have the flair for painting.

All shot taken in Paradigm Infinitum, Midpoint Orchard using my new lens and have to say that now it will become my everyday lens replacing my 12mm f2.0 that serve me 2 years with my E-M5.

some shots of new and past equipment with the 25/1.8

anyone tried purchasing online? wondering if there is any international warranty.

Amazon Japan price + forex conversion differential + forwarding fees + (possible GST) is only slightly cheaper than local price, I think.

Hi all and tyrtok,
From my experience of buying from Amazon JP,
1) Yes Olympus warranty would cover worldwide include here Singapore as long as you have original receipt.
2) Amazon Jp + Tenso(carrier co Jp) delivery time would be less than 10-12 days.
3) You have to pay 7% GST and your CC "extra" rate and you would feel better off buying lens locally which is equivalent to buying oversea unless you continue monitoring falling Yen rate or wait for Amazon JP to slash original price to lower one.
4) You would be dead worried whether your lens arrives in good one piece after shipping/delivery time. Plus you would not "test-drive" your lens which you would comfortably test-drive lens at your favourite shop before you are confident purchasing it. UNLESS you are very 300% SPARTAN-CONFIDENT buying from Amazon Jp at your own risk... :bsmilie:

Firstly, welcome to MFT World Of Olympus. You would be amazed about us folks ranting non-stop about Olympus gears thingy.
As for your present lens, I suggest you need to get familiar with the lens and your practical photo-shooting with their focal lengths 1st.
As for 25mm F1.8, it is the most suitable for street-photography and maybe portrait.
If you want good lens for scenary, the current 9-18mm and 7-14mm(Panasonic) lens are the ideal lens. Or you start saving up now for upcoming new lens Oly 7-14 F2.8 pro which might be launched in 2015. I am also eyeing this lens as well.

there is no price indication yet, current oly 7-14 f4 is selling at arond $1300 to $1400.
hence if you ask me, the right price should be close to $2000.

Let's not speculate too much on pricing as the official pricing is not out yet. It would be better if we start saving up $$$ right now.
At this moment, let's shoot as much as we can savour good moments everywhere with our loved ones, friends, etc.

Good price. Or you ought to walk around at Funan Centre as there are many good reputable shops and you would never know you would get better deal there, depending on how your bargaining skill would be.
All the best bro!

Yes, that's a good price, what you have now are very versatile setups, I would like to suggest that you try out the kit lenses first and explore what the different focal length are. If you are not sure about 25mm, just use the 12-50mm and fix it at 25mm and shoot for a while. The improvements you will get vs 12-50mm is sharper images, faster (shutter speeds) if u use at small F numbers, more shallow depth of field (blurrer background), more portable certainly at the expense of versatility.
