Hi Sree,

Check with you when using the TCON. Does the DOF become shallower?

Thanks,

Shark, you cannot use the lens cap with the CLA-7 on. That's why I wish they had made the CLA a wee bit longer so that the filter can remain when the CLA is fitted on and serve as a protective layer. Guess they were worried about image quality. In my case, if I have the TCON on, I just put on the TCON lens cap. Otherwise I just loosely put the lens cap in the "wide hole" of the CLA. Not a good solution though. Can't add anything in front of TCON though as no threads. Any bayonet fitted filters around I wonder?

Slacker I got the filter free when I bought my camera (John 3:16), 40.5mm HOYA UV. Yes you have to remove the filter to fix up the TCON. To quote my mail in another thread:

"However, if you wish to use the TCON-1.7c or the WCON-0.7c then you need to install the CLA-7. The CLA-7 adapter is only to attach lenses. Note that the filter must be removed in order to use the CLA-7 with a lens attached. "

BTW lens cap does fit snugly with the filter on.

I would recommend at least a UV filter. OLY UV and polarizer filters are also available here in SIN.

Think Sree hasn't answered your question yet...I can't either cos I haven't gotten the TCON yet.

Anyway, to all 5060 users out there: any one figure out why people have been complaining about the Program Shift thingy? http://forums.clubsnap.org/showthread.php?t=56165

Pls share if you know the solution to the "unworkable" program shift thingy....
Cheerios!

We are not Olympians for nothing...right???

Hi Shark

Busy with work all week so no chance to look at forum. To tell you the truth I have not really looked into the difference in DOF with TCON on. In theory, it should be shallower as DOF decreases with zoom. If I can figure out a good test, I'll run some test shots this weekend with/without TCON, at the same subjects, to look for differences if any. Problem would be that subject distance also affects DOF (nearer results in shallower DOF ofsetting the no zoom effect w/o TCON). Are you confused yet? I am :)

I think you need to be at 1/250 at least in order to see program shift working. I managed to "improve" the BabelFish translation of OLY FAQ on this and posted it on DPReview, days ago. Check it out:

Let me know if it makes sense and works that way for you.

Hi Sree,

Thanks....don't worry, I get what you mean. I'm planning to get one real soon. what was the price again and did you bought it at CP?

Shark

CLA-7 is about $40 and TCON-17c is about $170~190. CP is slightly more pricey than AP, TK Foto(?)

Huh?? Isn't the picture not going to be sharp... since one cannot even hold the DC firmly and properly...??

Sree - Thanks for the pricing. I'm lucky to have got that price for the 5060. I too was lugging around an F90x & eos50 for many years & many other Nikon SLRs. It's a relieve to use a DC for 2 yrs now. I have a Casio QV-3500 which needs servicing.

dp5060, I am looking for the BLM-1 battery too. can you tell me where can I get the cheaper price on it. thanks
