Most shops selling digicams also carry 3rd party batteries. From my personal experience it's as good as the original, is very much cheaper and I have not had any problem using them. I am sure others who have used it can atest to it. Go on and buy it, no problem.

Tried getting a 3rd party battery from Eastgear but they didn't have stock. Got one at Alan PHoto for only $22 which is much cheaper than what the guy at Eastgear quoted me - $29.95!

what is the brand/specs of the $22 battery? went down to alan photo and they quoted me $28 for the 1500ma one/7.5v.

The battery I bought from AP is 'Eastgear' brand. Actually, it was referred to me by Eastgear when I first went there but they had no stock. I couldn't believe too when the guy at AP quoted me $22. I expected it to be the same price as in Eastgear or a dollar cheaper.

btw, thinking of getting getting the portable flash fl-20 (@$140), lexar 512MB CF (@$240) and olympus 256MB xD ($179) for my cam. are these prices ok?

I guess the FL20 and Lexar 512MB prices are reasonable but not too sure about the 256MB xD price. Why do you need to buy another xD card? For that price, which is not worth it, I would advise you to pay abit more and invest in another 512MB card. There is no obvious advantage using a xD card except that you can store panaromic pic on the 5060 provided it's Olympus brand (correct?). If u are into panaromic pic, capture on the 32MB xD card provided and copy it to the CF card. The xD is so small that if you misplace it you might not be able to find it.

The FL 20 is too small and u can't use bounce flash. Get the FL 40 (if it's still available) or the FL 50 even though they cost more but u get a more powerful flash with more features. I am thinking of getting a Metz flash with a Olympus adaptor (SCA 3202). The main advantage of buying a Metz flash is that if you buy another digicam of another brand (eg. Canon) u can still use the same flash by buying the Canon adaptor. U can't use the Olympus flash on the Canon. Even if u are able to, some of the functions may be disabled.

The FL 50 cost $700 plus? That's too expensive! Have not decided which Metz model to get and anyway not in a hurry to buy one.

Wanted to buy the Olympus FL 50 but found it too costly - about $700! Besides, if I sell my 5060 at some point in time and switch to other brand, I would have to sell my Oly flash too. I am looking at the Metz 44 MZ2 with the SCA 3202 adaptor selling for $410 at a store - John 'something' - at Funan. Makes more sense to get the Metz as I only need to buy another adaptor even if I get another cam of a different brand. Any Olympus user using Metz flash? Would appreciate some feedback before I buy it. Thanks.
