I have had the MD version for a while. From memory, the light fall-off when used on Canon 5D2 is more pronounced wide opened. It is a difficult lens to nail focus right especially using centered focus and shift and stopped down metering. That is why I sold it off. I wished I still have it since it would have been easier to use with focus peaking.

Yes. This lens works very well on d Sony A7/R.

My neck, shoulders and back are enjoying the A7 better. Sony is definitely on the right path.

Yes RF lenses look very good in every department. The A7/R provides even more flexibility than the 5D2 so there are choices galore.

That was the main reason I switched to a simple NEX 5N 2 years ago. My main lenses are my Nikon ais 28f2.8, 50f1.2, 105f2.5 and my favorite, the CV 58f1.4 SL II, also a ais. Just did my nephew's wedding with the 28f2.8 and 58f1.4. You should get acquainted with using focus peaking with magnification without taking your eyes off the EVF, very effective. I save the focus magnification to a button that I can easily access with my right thumb while my eyes is on the EVF. Dial the focus until I see the peaking appearing, hit the magnify button, readjust focus and shoot, all within a mere 1-2 second. I will wait until the craze slows down and then decide whether the A7 or A7r is suitable for me. Cheers.

Waiting for the craze to come down is right.
But don't wait too long

You can try it at the Sony shop AFAIK.

I doubt it will be bad for manual lenses, esp, slr ones.
There will surely be a few nit picks (ie. loud shutter; slow AF; expensive native lenses for what they are; etc)
But which system is free of small issues.

While I love its price and o/p, sometimes I turn until hand tired...

Always passed on the MOG 135/2.8 as I already have too many 135mm (5 from last count.. )
Stupid me, I just passed on the Hexxanon 40/1.8, because I'm still unsure of adapting it on the 5D and it does not work on K-mount.

One thing i like about the 55/2.8 is its weight, much lighter compared to the Vivitar 105/2.5

My Chinon MCM 55mm f1.7 macro (Alpa Switar clone) just arrived today, but aperture blades stuck wide open, will need some servicing before posting some samples

The Tomioka/Revuenon/Cosina 55/1.2 is certainly a lens that has its own character.
I think you have really nailed it for people shots.

Are you referring to Konica AR mount? Adapt to K mount is possible but modification is on the camera's mount ring which I did before on my K-r. However, only close focusing and no focus to infinity which is quite limiting for my Konica 50mm f1.4.

The Hexxanon will work hassle free on a MILC, but I'm still pondering over getting one since I really got all the lenses I ever need and should be using them more instead...
