Official Sony A7 or A7r discussion thread

It must be the shutter vibrations that caused the background of my picture to become "blur", especially when I tried using my summilux f1.4. Very blur background, only the centre object is razor sharp.

You called that bokeh is it?

Haha...

ic, there is an article at http://www.sonyalpharumors.com/a7r-shutter-virbation-is-a-non-issue-test-by-ferrell-mccollough/
that suggest that the vibration issue seems to be overblown. Oh well, pixel peepers seems to be making a loud of noise since the days cameras can use ISO 800 and beyond.

I recall the days where Sony started the A850, it was slammed for the shutter sound and it cannot shoot low light. When the A7r is out and apparently can shoot low light very well, it was slammed for too much artifacts and compression. Haters love to hate, I guess. I dunno all these technical details, I am just a happy user to record images I see wherever I go.

It does not explain the data. In any case if u read the comments, there are many disagreements. I mostly agree though with the comment that the shake results in a softness mainly as a result of vibration occurring along the lens axis (z). It's corroborated with the persons vibration test.

Does Sony have a mini flash for A7/R for everyday use?

Also anyone knows if there is a flash adapter for Canon flash or trigger to be used on Sony A7/R body. Sometimes when joining xmm shoots. Only Canon/Nikon triggers are provided. I need to be able to use my A7/R with these flash.

Feels like what happened when DPreview shared its discovery of 'shutter shock' on the EP5 and the huge brouhaha that ensued all over again. Where r the haters now?

I don't own an A7 but I gotta say that shutter slap is simply a phenomenon affecting most if not all smaller / lighter mirror-less bodies. What kinda irks me is that when people blow things out of proportion , causing others to focus on the wrong issue & miss the good of the camera. This is especially so when a camera is 'threatening' to others. I've seen this happen to EM5 , EP5 & the A7 now. EM1's probably next.

I mostly agree with what Atarandas shared, and really again , no camera is perfect - are u the type of photographer who will take the time to learn about the camera's quirks and harness them to full effect or the one who will dump the camera once a scathing review is released ? I know of many people here who will be in the former group like Oly5050 , Thoth etc :)

Interesting. He made a comment about 1/focal length. It's my experience too. 1/focal length is not sufficient for the A7. I gotta shoot at 1/2-3x focal length. On the 35 mm 2.8, I had to shoot at about 1/100 to get reliably sharp images.

Especially closed up shots. Haha. I used 2x focal length's shutter speed, still blur. At least 2.5x to b safe.

Maybe because I am heavy weight. So adding more natural stabliser to the 35 FE lol . I can shoot at 1/35 and 50 on the lens T_T

Not say cannot but shooting the way I'm used to with Olympus IBIS, and without adopting strict technique, I need faster speed like wat Toth mentioned. I guess if i really wanted to, I could get into correct position and squeeze out a shot that may be sharp at slower speeds.

Well in any case, the A7 is the cheapest brand new 135 full frame digital camera you can buy now. People shdnt complain too much. Personally i cant bear to spend the 3-4k or more on the canons or nikons or leica. And i dun wanna lug big-ass professional dslr cameras and lenses around. I would say I dun love the A7 but I see it as an opportunity to own and use a FF camera and see what the obsession with LARGE sensors is about. I'm not sure why but I'm not shooting as much as I would like with the camera. Maybe it's a lack of subject or perhaps lack of lenses. Haha. Whatever, my point is I feel like Im talking more than shooting with it wrt the A7.

I'm completely opposite. Been shooting wif it almost every single day. Loving it though its not perfect or even functioning as easily as d EM1&5 or evens d X-E1. D IQ is just amazing wif grata lenses.

A lot of it is dependent on technique. I remember way back in film days, in my school photographic society, we used to see who could shoot at slower shutter speeds and still have very sharp images.

A7/A7R is poisonous, thats why i squeeze all my $$$ in the wallet, saving bank account, piggy bank to get this baby with no regret =)
I remember when the 1st time i bought my 1st camera, i saw sony dslr and wondering when sony start selling dslr ?? Lol i was noob that time, same as now haha.

Does anyone know if Canon Speedlight would trigger off with A7. No need TTL what have you. At least just able to trigger flash.
