Thanks. Whats my best bet for the above mentioned?

Depends on how good u want yr 50/1.4 to b? FD 50/1.4? Pentax K SMC 50/1.4? Minolta 50/1.4? Canon LTM 50/1.4? Too many to choose from unless u can understand wat color signature n d type of Bokeh they render to make the right decision. Also sharpness of each variant is different even of d same lens model due to d different versions thru out d decades.

PDAF cant be turned off and is passive if your Af is on with a compatible lens. Regardless on or off in the menu, pdaf will always stay on , u cant turn it off. The option in the menu only shows the grids of the pdaf area and does not serve as a function to turn it on or off. Also , PDAF does not come in play in dark/low light conditions and above f6.3. Running on those condtions, it switches to full CDAF. Thats the nature of hybrid sensors.

Oh....interesting. Thanks!!

A cheap cheam...hehe. I want sharpness with high speed at a not so big size. Of course value for money (not necessary cheap)

Can anyone share their setting in getting a none smudged looking OOC jpeg? Seems the in camera jpeg engine is so harsh especially at wide apertures and high ISO.

Try turning off noise reduction

Did anyone manage to purchase and install the lens compensation app from the US website?

gotta have a us credit card to purchase. anyone done it yet?

looks like we have to wait for the app to appear in Singapore page

Is it true that PDAF is causing the camera to hunt during videos? I read somewhere that this is a tendency for PDAF. If so, that I think I should disable the PDAF function in the A7. Seems like there is no apparent benefit for this additional function in the A7. Any thoughts?

I am not a video person so can't comment. But I leave pdaf on as I thought its a tad faster when it's on. Or could be placebo effect on me haha

Alternatively, u can purchase PSN (playstation network) Us store prepaid cards and charge it to a US registered account and use it for the apps. These cards are easily available at various local game shops /amazon in denominations like $20usd etc.

Another wide angle alternative:
Minolta 17-35 f2.8-4 400-500 on ebay,
should work well with la ea4 with af

thanks for the advise.

i bought a PSN us prepaid card on amazon registered to my US vpost address and it worked. I have the lens compensation app successfully installed on my A7 now :D

lens correction profile created for my SEL10-18 works pretty well! no more crazy distortion to correct haha! a pity i sold off my CV15mm already. otherwise will try the vignette correction tool.

Does the profile works only on Jpegs ? Hopefully it corrects raw as well and save the hassle to go PP thereafter :)
