Where to download the Sony image data converter? Is it able to edit the Sony Raw file like LR? Does it work on the Mac? Tks

what you can do is use Sony Image file conveter and convert them to tiff file... but 1st remove all camera did to yur raw file e.g. NR and others that y don't like another is DRO etc.

No, it isn't [it pretty much only offers the controls your camera model has] but what you get out of the raw files has more potential to begin with. You can still edit it later elsewhere. Just go to your camera model and download it from the support page, there is an OS X version as well.

So by removing all the stuff that the camera did to my RAW file I will get a 100% pure RAW data to be used in LR and Photoshop?

that I can not answer bro hehehe but at least you have a cleaner RAW that those raw files that's converted by Adobe Raw to DNG as those are straight conversion only here you can remove like NR/DRO and other stuffs that Sony Cams do to your RAW file.

It depends, I don't always remove all settings before I export because some Sony features are better than the ones Adobe and DxO offer.

Sony is slping.

In a way it's gimmicky, but not too hard to use actually. It is a subset of face recognition. For bro wanting to use eye af, , you need to turn on face recognition af. When the camera detects a face, just press the centre button ( the default assigned button) , smaller green af box will appear at the eye . Quite accurate and useful if you ask me.

When the camera detects a face, just press the centre button ( the default assigned button) , smaller green af box will appear at the eye . Quite accurate and useful if you ask me.

U r kidding me? Press on tat button n then press shutter?? Not very intelligent interface.

Because half press give u face detect, to differentiate, tell your camera by pressing another button.

used it once then turn it off coz when you lug your cam via neck strap you wasting battery... every time your eye piece is touching your body or something it will AF good to have when you shooting sports event no need to half press just look and the cam will AF

Previously sony put sensor on the grip, the pre eye af start only activate when u grip, and eye to VF... Too bad they took out the grip design..

I have LR 5.2 ( I thought mine was LR4 cant remember I just upgraded and still cant read the A7r RAW files... Not sure of A7 RAW

Same for A7 raw on LR 5.2. I have no problem with A7 arw files on 5.3 RC.
