Aiyo, that is quite a damning comment. I thought it's a nice photo even though it may have been processed. The chap who took that is a well-known news photographer.

I didn't say the photo is bad, in fact I like it! Just saying you don't need any of the equipment here to come out with something like that, especially not a top notch lens. The posted photo tells nothing about the lens and the camera.

Heh it's never about the equipment isn't it ? It's the human behind the camera that counts :)

Not again! ;) Haha, sure but that's not what I meant, that's a totally different matter. Good glass makes a difference when you're after quality but the posted photo doesn't exhibit it.

I see a lot of people trying to resist the POISON. But the Zeiss lens also has MAGIC. The combination of POISON and MAGIC, you will surely succumb. Keke.

Zeiss is good... Haha... But I am really succumbing to bro overworked's Minolta Rokkor 58mm f/1.2 lens now...

There are alot of good lenses from the MD era. Too bad, the prices of those have shot up so much over the last 3 years.

yeah I fully agree last time before I've gone to mirrorless MD/MC lenses are cheap with more and more ppl using mirrorless the prices just goes up like crazy...

with A7(R)...think the price will just keep going up.

A few of us brought our cams for a 2 day holiday shooting and here are my experience with the A7R. So far, there are two major cons: Battery life and PlayMemories. You will need 3 batteries for a day shoot if you are using 1 cam. Usually for most cams, 2 are enough. PlayMemories app is still very buggy and very slow.
For people with are into "fast speed" shooting and planning to use manual lens with the A7/A7R, i think it is best to stick to legacy SONY FE lens for its AF feature. The focus peaking is not that fun to use! ...haha
Happy shooting guys!

New kids on the block limkopi : OMD-m1, Stylus 1, E-m1, X-e2, A7R. Hosts are D7000 and M9. Photo by Z1.

Think my main complain is the upload to smartphone feature sends a relatively low resolution copy to the phone. Doesn't seem to have a way to change that

You can change to download full resolution jpeg. Dig thru the options, by default it is only 2mb.download via nfc. I actually love this feature, can quickly instagram.or share photos via WhatsApp in double quick time

Yeah those MD/MC lens that are EXC quality are so expensive, it makes more sense to get a CV lens. That said, i gotten a CZ Jenna and a Jupiter last year , sadly, wide open, still not as sharp as the FE 35mm f2.8 , think i may just sell off everything and stick to E mount Zeiss , and CVs =S

wise choice, unless cheap, i found the e n fe lens are much sharper than many of mine legacy manual lenses

I am using the 35mm f/1.7 CV Ultron ASPH on the A7. Sharp as the FE35/2.8 and better Bokeh. Will post some shots in the image sharing thread later. Keke... FE35/2.8 is good if u r lazy to go MF and dun mind a thicker DOF.

It's a Zeiss lens and at f/2.8, it should be very sharp at that aperture, if not please dun even put the Zeiss blue logo on the lens ya? Most of us go legacy as we need shallower DOF and wider aperture than the f/2.8. It's quite limited what we can achieve on the FE35/2.8.

The FE 55/1.8 is another matter, seriously worth getting if U do not already own a great 50mm legacy lens.

bro, is that 58/1.2 a Rokkor MC or MD or X?

X is for the US Market. Bro overworked mentioned his is around late 1980s making it the latest version it seems. See this link below, really nice rendering from the 58mm f/1.2 Rokkor... *melts*
