Hello,

I checkout the A7R at Sony.
Couldnt find the option to activate Eye Priority Focus,
Is that only available on A7 and not on A7R ?

Thanks

You need to assign the Eye AF function to one of the customizable buttons. You have to hold on to the button assigned for Eye AF while pressing the shutter button to capture the image.

I don't think Sony expects anybody to use it anyway. It's a show floor feature only. It's as reliable and useful as the smile shutter or the auto crop features. ;)

In the Manual, there is an option called Eye-Start AF,
(Sets whether to use auto focus when you look through the viewfinder if an LA-EA2/LA-EA4 Mount Adaptor is attached)

It has nothing to do with this option right ?

Thanks.

You are right. This is different from Eye AF that helps to focus on your subject's eye

Sony uses the Eye-Start AF for a decade now, that's not the new feature.

used it once then turn it off coz when you lug your cam via neck strap you wasting battery... every time your eye piece is touching your body or something it will AF good to have when you shooting sports event no need to half press just look and the cam will AF

you pres the Eye-AF button and the camera will automatically cofus and search for the eye, then you press the shutter..so yes you do need to press 2 buttons. and unfortunately, the eye-af doesn't work all the time :)
it's not something i will use. the face detect works well enough there' no need for the eye af

oh the eye AF yeah this is good for portraits sadly I cant test it as I am using legacy glass :-(

But I don't know if you notice any neck strap will surely get in your way when your try to take a shot I don't have this issue with NEX 7 as the shutter is more to the front of the body than the A7/r

actually this problem is the same i had with the oly EP-1, EP-2, EP-3 and OMD. the lug and strap attachment really gets in the way. i removed the triangle attahment and looped my wrist strap directly through the lug and it feels much better in hand.

yeah NEX 7 the shutter placement was at the front scroll excellent location if they ask me :-). Looks like they are copying a RF button/scroll layout as close as possible

Nvrmind bro.. U can AF on their body parts which interests U. Tatz d best part of Manual Focus. Legacy MF glass FTW!!! :bsmilie:

Weird, I actually like the 35mm hood.

I have a filter and the hood attached to the SEL35f28Z lens at the same time.

Me too. I love the hood. Very good protection. I leave the lens cap at home.

hehe just read this darn been using Adobe to process my RAW file and it seem Sony free software is doing better than Adobe in process the A7/r raw files

Not new, I'm preaching that for years. ;) Adobe sucks with ARW files. It's like flushing 50% of the camera's potential down the toilet. Colors and gradients are (totally) off in Adobe, it's noisier and you're loosing detail. Adobe's processing is super mushy in general.

Where to download the Sony image data converter? Is it able to edit the Sony Raw file like LR? Does it work on the Mac? Tks

No, it isn't [it pretty much only offers the controls your camera model has] but what you get out of the raw files has more potential to begin with. You can still edit it later elsewhere. Just go to your camera model and download it from the support page, there is an OS X version as well.
