Set your a7 focus mode to AF-C.
Edit: "and focus point: multi"
The other option is : use object tracking ( Choose activate by half press shutter ).
Hi Bros
Wanted some advice from you guys.
I had a Nikon D800E and from personal experience, I realised I had to set minimum shutter speed of 3 x focal length in order to get sharp image, at whatever the aperture. And I find it really hard and frustrating to use at times.
I wonder if this is the same experience with the a7r, since it has the same 36 mpx as D800E.
I really could not figure out why despite correcting all the techniques and stabilisation mechanics. I could only get sharp image on a tripod.
So I have thinking of getting the a7r because I rationalise that the light body plus the lack of mirror flap will negate the problem above.
Your thoughts?
PS: My apology Bro Thoth for double posting.

Tried. Still the same le. The green still in the center
Were you on object tracking ? when its turned on , the focus box will be following where your object is.
Hello, may I ask a favor from A7(R) owner to try to shoot 2 photos, one with speed booster adapter (in crop mode) and another with dummy adapter (in FF mode) with the same lens. I want to see how both FOV will differ. If both photos have similar FOV, then we can have the following benefits using speed booster in A7(R);
1)Light gain from the nature of the SpeedBooster
2)Less noise photo due to lower pixel density from FF sensor relative to APS-C
Hope someone can confirm this. Thanks.
Bro can u explain further on
The tracking vs afc. They are like similar when to use which.
In nex, there was touch screen, I mostly use tracking for video during dolly shot. For still never use before.
Now come to a7, not very clear. Esp the manual... Quite useless

In theory, what u will be doing with the speed booster is to concentrate whatever that would illuminate the whole ff sensor to the crop centre portion, retaining the same fov and dof. You gain the extra stop of light (allowing for faster SS), but you lose detail because of lower megapixels. I would believe this move is not worth it. And the speed booster is so much more expensive.
Sorry where do I select object tracking. Cant seem to find 'Object Tracking'
I agreed with you. But my objective will be the light gain, if the theory is correct, you may gain as much as 2 stops or maybe more (one from SB and the other from FF sensor). I think it still worth it if you already own a SB with nex and I like to shoot indoor without flash. Furthermore, with SB, the whole setup is shorter than dummy adapter but more heavy. If shoot with A7R in crop mode, I think you will still get about 16M photo. But resolution will not my main priority. Cheers.

See the symbol next to 3:2? Thats the tracking AF mode. Press Fn to activate your selection into the menu, and go to that to turn it on. to use it, press the C3 button ( which is the dustbin/delete button) to activate
Bro for the eye af.
I assigned it to one button it will focus on eye but when I half press shutter it go back to the area the spot af box was at.
Am I doing it wrong ?
Based on my short experience on the Eye AF, this is what I have observed. You have to keep pressing and holding on to the button assigned for Eye AF while pressing the shutter release button to take the photo.
By the way, anyone has picture of artist and artisan silk cord on a7?
Where you you guys get it in singapore?
