ya hehe...i am going for the 11am session courtesy of CS's 15 invites from Sony. I am bringing 3 lenses to test, hopefully they will allow us to do so. CV 15 4.5, CV 35 1.4, CV 50 1.1. All these CV lenses performed great on a NEX 3N i tested them with. hopefully the performance carries forward to the A7 or even A7R. Maybe less densely packed pixels really help...

but the Leica M is also 24MP like the A7... so there may be other considerations that cause the color shift, like the presence or lack of a AA filter

Another review showing CV15 works fine on A7 but NOT A7R and M..

"Ultra-wide-angle lenses can also be an issue. Some lenses of this type can display a color shift in the corners when mounted on digital cameras. I had one of these, the thread mount version of the Voigtlander Super-Wide-Heliar 15mm f/4.5, on hand and ran a quick comparison shot with the Leica M, Alpha 7, and Alpha 7R. Both the M and the 7R showed magenta color in the corners where there should be none, but the 24-megapixel Alpha 7 didn't exhibit shift."

Color shift does not equal corner distortion.

Nopez, for upgrading to either 35 lux asph pre fle or 50 lux asph (if the 55/1.8 doesnt measure up to expectation) :bsmilie:

Yes I am more concerned about the magenta color shift at the corners as indicated in his review. Not about corner distortion.

I have a favour to ask those coming to Sony's preview tomorrow.

Could you please ask them about the idiotic launch of a7/a7R *in Singapore*: Why are the two native FE lenses (35mm and 55mm) not launching at the same time as the camera bodies? It's like launching the PS4 with no launch PS4 game titles.

Thanks.

I was just wondering if anyone played with the thought of coupling a Voigtländer with the α7? I kinda think that apart from the lack of AF, a 35mm f/1.4 with it will be cool. I am going to be a Canon-convert, having been stuck with APS-C bodies and EF lenses for a nearly a decade now, really excited with this launch.

I am going for the 16:30 session tomorrow, anyone else going too?

Stupid amazon... In the afternoon, they advertised their a7 body at 14980yen. I saw and ordered it immediately and now they sent me an email to tell me that the order has been cancelled due to wrong pricing.. How can they cancel just like that..

It's an invitation to treat.
If they had charged your credit card and also sent you an e-mail notifying you that the items have been dispatched to you -- before they sent you another email cancelling the order, then you may have a case.

Just went to wisma sony. They put up the preorder sign for a7, a7r and RX10. Preorder gift not fantastic. A7 and A7r is a free 32gb sd card. RX10 is free 16gb, 32gb sd card and a portable charger.

Haha BOught a cv 35 1.4 just for the a7. Cool small size combo.

Another blog commenting on the inferior AF in a7:

http://www.jackieloi.com/2013/11/sony-a7-and-a7r-test.html

"I have no complain on focus speed in A7R however when use A7, the focus seem slow. Not sure is the lens (ZEISS 55mm f1.8) problem or not. I expect it to focus faster due to phase detection."

Hmmm...

images on that thread look odd. differences are probably due to different lenses mounted on the A7/A7R. A7 with the 55 1.8 and A7R with the 35 2.8.

The 55 1.8 is clearly the better lens in terms of IQ. the A7 shows more skin detail and pores compared to the shots from the A7R. Funny thing is the A7R shots look like watercolor smudged painting.
