Haha, Macdonalds happy meal vouchers :)

I'm guessing probably some PWP promotions coming to Sony SG side. The free batt alone for HK Sony side makes its a superb deal already.

Or like Ageha said, the lens guide book which they will make sound as if it's a godsend but will go straight to the rubbish bin

:bsmilie: most of those who are getting the A7 or A7R don't really need the guidebook.

only those newbies who jump straight into FF. i would rather negotiate for another freebie.

well. even the current NEX promotions have PWP offers to get the battery at $19, so the A7/R shld have at least the same PWP. of course best if we have an extra free battery like HK.

Or order from abroad where they have attractive bundles.

the only preview is for the RX10 so far. where's the A7R/A7 one?

well the brochure does say get your hands on the new Alpha 7 Series. rest assured the A7 will be there.

Recently they also offer lenses at discounted prices if you purchase them together with the camera body but I'm not sure if they will do that in this case coz there aren't many native (FE) lenses to choose from this month. ;) Maybe they will offer the 2 new FF adapters and some A-mount lenses at discounted prices. It should be in their interest to push as many lenses over the counter as possible, adapted or not as long as they're from Sony.

"*Lightest indicates to A7R...."

So the R is lighter than the 7? Looking at the weight listed on Sony.com . A7R is 9g lighter. Is that the weight of AA ? :)

A7:
•Weight(Approx) (Main unit only) : Approx. 416 g
•Weight (Approx.) : With battery and Memory Stick PRO Duo Approx. 474 g

A7R:
Weight(Approx) (Main unit only) : Approx. 407 g
Weight (Approx.) : With battery and Memory Stick PRO Duo Approx. 465 g

Probably the AA glass or even the metal clad is lighter than plastic ????

Magnesium alloy is lighter then plastic perhaps

Zeiss makes both and they say that the Otus is almost "perfect". They mention various lens corrections that help it at night where they say many lenses fail. Apparently "Otus" is some kind of owl with good night vision.

HOOT HOOT :)

Yeah, most previews mentioned it when they revealed the cameras.

[Cosina made under Zeiss licence] is entitled to its own high opinion of itself. Puffing statements are expected - some overdone.

In the area of lenses made for shooting in low light, fore-runners are plenty:

Leica 50mm f/0.95 Noctilux-M Aspherical, Nikon 58mm f/1.2 Noct-Nikkor , Canon 50mm F1.2L, etc....

Strange that Sony emphasize that the micro lens offset design in the A7R is supposed to minimize the corner color cast if you scroll to 28 mins in the video below. So is it really so? Seemed the real life testing doesnt justify this statement... Hmm...

Didn't I say that already on the day the cameras got launched? ;) Not really a surprise...

The Australian interviews are full of mistakes. Offset microlenses are designed to help with sharpness and vignetting, NOT color cast.

surprising, since the guy who's giving the talk is a product specialist. and the photographer they invited almost said he switched to "Ca....." oops.

he mentions that false color will be gone. false color will remain, and that's a given because of the removal of the AA filter.

anyways, he doesn't mention anything about color casts.

false color is different from the magenta color casts that we got on the NEX-7

Yes, but apparently these low light lenses have imperfections that cause artifacts and aberrations at night. The Otus supposedly eliminates all that. Wonder how true.
