take RX100 M2 for eg. they only have the display set after it was already avaliable in major shops. so i guess it would be the same for A7/R

Well.. Sony Singapore..the one at Wisma.. is always very disappointing..:bsmilie:..
After so long. There is still no SAL70-400GII and SAL50F1.4 at the display for testing..and there is RX1 only..no RX1r for testing either..

Then..the price tag and item sticker were paste wrongly as well.. was there last week ..so i saw..a CPL 77MM filter ..with price tag stating $159. Caught my attention n i was like "Ok...really?" (The correct pricing should be $299).
Then as I'm about to exit the shop..the lenses in the display..some were not placed in the right position too..the 24F2 and the 35F1.4 were swapped..and the 2470 and 1635 were not correct too. oh my..either they cant be bothered..or.. they dontknow their product well?..

(above is as accurate as last week..when i was there)

not sure when then the A7 will be available at the showroom..I believe..A7R wont be there for testing..hope not though. :bsmilie:

I doubt they will unwrap a RX1R coz they have already two RX1 on display there...

Back to the question of A7 or A7r. After wasting a few days waiting for the Nikon Df ( should be DS as in Digital Sumo), it has a fixed focusing screen, so no chance of changing it which means there will not be any traditional aid for manual focusing. So far, I am quite certain I will choose A7, but I will wait until I can lay my hands on it.

you can't call it a Sumo. Sumos are graceful in movement despite their size :bsmilie:

this DF would have to be a Humvee that can't fit into a parking lot properly :bsmilie:

The Df is not only heavy but it looks very fat to me. I have a pretty good set of ais lenses, so I had high hopes. The D600 was a let down. Anyway, I think you are funny and I actually like your posts most of the time.

It's not really heavy, it's Nikon's lightest full-frame DSLR to date.

I guess its hard to do focus peaking in an optical viewfinder. Haha But it should autofocus with most of your old Nikon lenses

What's that supposed to mean? It focuses will all AF lenses.

I was once tricked when I bought into the Pentax K5 because of lens backwards compatibility, only to realize that they forgot to provide a suitable focusing screen for it. When I sold the K5, focusingscreen.com began to produce the # S focusing screen for it, too late. Now, the Nikon Df was very promising, with compatibility with ai and even non-ai lenses. Compatibility, yes, usage NO because you can't focus. I will stay with my 5N and will look at A7/r seriously. Actually, if one wants "retro", Fuji is the best route.

Trying to find hand-held video tests but couldnt find any. Does anyone know if image stabilization is built-in or depends on the lenses?

UPDATE: got my answer - Not supported (image stabilization supported by lens)

I didn't know it's possible not to stumble over that piece of information.

This has been mentioned in pretty much every review and preview. And in the YouTube videos shot with the a7/a7r etc. It's really harder *not* to come across this info than the opposite.

If you know Anthony, he has AIS lenses from before Nikon had AF. With those lenses, it would be useful to have focus peaking.

Here's a well known one

Why "most"? It will auto focus with all AF lenses and with none of the manual focus lenses.

Sam,

I look at all these new cameras, Lumix GX7, Fuji XE-2, Oly EM1 and Sony A7/r, and I am fascinated by them. Anyone will do and actually, each will surpass my shooting standard nowadays because I use my mobile camera 95% of the time. As and when I love shooting from a real camera, during family events or nieces' or nephews' weddings, I will use what I have, or borrow/rent some essential lenses and flash. I am actually debating between the A7 and keep my set of ais lenses, or forget about what I have and simply have the new RX10 and be done with it. Cheers.

If you noticed, you would know that I was responding to Anthony. Because I know that Anthony has several Nikon lenses including old AIS lenses, the Df will focus with "most" of "his" lenses since in my statement "your lenses", I was referring to Anthony's lenses, which are both. Hope you understand now.

Fantastic comparator from imaging resource that shows that the A7r can kick the D800's butt at high ISO!! The A7 is clearly already as good as Canon's full frames. Makes it hard to decide between the two especially since Steve Huff said that the A7 works better with wide RF glass.

Well, of course they will "focus" (why shouldn't they?) but previously you wrote "autofocus". There is no way his AIS lenses will "autofocus".
