Anyone here using the 1018 uwa lens here? How's the results?

Would it be cheaper if I get it from jb?

check the image sharing thread. some of the other A7/A7R shooters already tested it ;)

I was at Berjaya Times Square Sony Centre. They only had 3 units. They just sold the last one when I reached there. The price quoted was about the same as Singapore price $1060.

The listed price is same as spore price. Was quite surprise when he told me got discount promo..

there is one in BNS now.. $800. Considering the amount of PP needed to get it work, I will wait for native UWA. ;p

The compensation app can be applied to correct the 10-18 in camera jpegs and raw file, which will help to reduce the PP efforts when using this lens :)

Has anyone here had experience with the Kiwifotos Nikon F to Sony E adapter? May I know what's the verdict? Thanks in advance.

Not recommended. You can go to Wisma Sony to test the 10-18 on your A7/R

Can elaborate on why it's not recommended?

i wouldn't say whether it's "recommended" or "not recommended"

1) you remove the rear baffle at your own risk
2) usable from 13mm - 18mm, with no issues except massive distortion and low contrast at corners (but hey~~ remember that it's a lens designed for APS-C and not FF

from here you can probably make your own decision.

currently, i don't see a problem with using it.

Hmmm. The distortion can be corrected in post using light room. Though it'll be an extra step. Contrast wise, hmmm. Thanks for highlighting that.

I guess there's no other lightweight and affordable UWA option for this fantastic camera now. Saddened.

Same thoughts as kei1309.

I am happily using the Sigma 30mm F2.8 DN ART which has similar dark corners. I won't remove the rear baffle but using lightroom to process it (crop it down a little). If not requiring FF, will just switch to "cropped" mode in the A7/R and shoot with cropped mode (for portraits mainly).

It will become 15mp files for a A7R, but still good enough for most shots.

A lot of vignetting and if you crop mode, it shoots at 10MP. Thats worse than if you shot it on a NEX

The vignetting appears correctable to me.

Guess my next best affordable option is to hunt for a wide angle lens and do panos. =(

If you need the extreme corners, you will need in invest in adapters - LA-EA4 for Sony A lenses, or third party adapters, such as CV15mm or CV12mm.

Yup I have the cv 15 and the 10-18f4. The 10-18 would definitely be soft in the corners . But at the center , it is very viable.

The cv 15 can be corrected through in camera app. It's probably the smallest and lightest wise angle package you will get on the a7/r

Alternatively best bet is la ea4 and used a mount sony or even minolta lenses. Since its already bought used, further depreciation shouldn't be too much for lenses. Get that first while waiting for native wide angle. Bought a used konica minolta 17-35 2.8-4 http://www.ebay.com.sg/itm/Minolta-Maxxum-Sony-Alpha-17-35mm-f-2-8-4-D-Wide-Angle-Zoom-Near-Mint-Cond-/301021072989?pt=Camera_Lenses&hash=item4616410e5d&_uhb=1

The Minolta 17-35 ,, F2.8-4 is not to be mistaken for the minolta 17-35 3.5G version. The image quality differs quite a lot. If really keen on wide angle, I am afraid the choices arent many. A lA-ea4 is going to set you back by 300 plus or more , plus a second hand used lens its close to 800-900. Which is the price of a 10-18 on Buy and sell... the horrors of BBB T_T
