Bubbles r normal of lenses from such era. Handmade ma. Blow d glass sure got bubbles. Haha

After shooting with the A7 for a couple of weeks, I realise something funny about its evf eye sensor. Coming from Nex7, usually i would shoot and pull back my eye to review the shots on lcd. I realise on A7 for many occasions where I pull back to review the photos, the lcd screen doesnt turn on , and the evf remains active.

It seems like the eye proximity detector is stronger than the one on NEX 7 and A99.

I did a number of unscientific test to gauge how much distance it takes between the eye proximity sensor and the face before the evf turns off. After framing on the EVF, if I extend the camera out keeping the back screen of the camera parallel to my face, the LCD screen doesnt turn on until I am approximately 30cm away.

I also left the camera on the table and place a non black large object at the back of the camera, the evf turns on, and I slowly pull away the object from the camera, it takes roughly 30cm before the lcd turns back on.

One quick fix to the above situation , is to do a aka Time Crisis reload. If you recall the days playing Time Crisis at the arcade where we have to point the gun down from the screen and trigger off to reload. To ensure that the LCD turns on promptly, I would perform a 60 degree downward tilt . The tilt has to be quite acute if not the lcd wouldnt turn on.

Not sure if other bros also have the same experience, but I guess this is a non issue which I am happy to work around it by conscientiously tilting it for review after framing.

Something is wrong. Not supposed to be like that. Check your eye cup. Could be out of position and blocking the sensor.

It a good lens using it on my a 7 now, just note the lens is prone to vignett wide open

Yes i do find that the eye sensor is much more sensitive than the Nex 7. It's maybe twice the distance needed to trigger it, which i find is annoying.
