Just sharing something that I happen to come across.

Alot of comments of the sample photos being soft in other forums. A sample photo was quoted and it looks like a lot of details was captured.

UPDATE : For ease of comparison, added a 100% crop of the eye portion. Saved using the lousy MS paint.

A7R with FE 35mm f/2.8 ZA

Actual link, the details around the eyes and chin/nose areas looks pretty good, at least to my amauteur eyes :sweat:

Yup, that's the only sharp one I saw so far. Anyway, I wouldn't blame the camera body for the mediocre photos so far.

opening the actual photo size the model put too much BB cream look at her nose uneven makeup lolz... man this lens and body combo is not good for model shots it will reveal too much details hehehe

I have tried to 'open' the photo but the clubsnap app have crashed for the last 3 times on my iPhone doing so. Wonder what's e reason

hahaha yes, this combo is really unflattering to the model's complexion.

Outdoors soft natural lighting with creamy smooth bokeh plus 3D depth colours may be more flattering..

Sony might do it like Fujifilm, just give them some time. According to their lens road map it might come in 2016.

Bad memories of my NEX 5N. Came out with hardly any emount lens. I ended up buying LA EA1 & EA2 (later on) and used with SAL 35/1.8 and Tamron 17-50/2.8. Then when the 55-210 and 50/1.8 (i think) came out, they were perpetually out of stock (though that was the time of the Japanese tsunami). Even u have this great body but no lens to use it with....at the very least the LA EA4 should come out pronto so at least those with FF SAL lens can use....now eager to get A7 but worried to be in the same situation like last time

Depends on what you're after. Native F1.4 primes might take half a decade. I don't really need that, I can use other systems if I need something wide open. I wouldn't slap a SLT adapter on it for sure. In that case I would rather use an A99.

Shot at F10.... Very hard to find cameras and lenses not performing well at F10 in a studio environment.

Anyway it is better to wait for official reviews to come out after the camera is released.

Depends on what you're after. Native F1.4 primes might take half a decade. I don't really need that, I can use other systems if I need something wide open. I wouldn't slap a SLT adapter on it for sure. In that case I would rather use an A99.

Shot at F10.... Very hard to find cameras and lenses not performing well at F10 in a studio environment.

Anyway it is better to wait for official reviews to come out after the camera is released.

I think the lens lineup is not good.

Why a 35mm f2.8? I thought they should be able to do f2.0 looking at RX1.

They should start with portable primes like fuji.

1) 35mm f2.0 or even f1.4 (the FF 35mm f1.4 lens are not really that big)
2) 85mm f2.0

To me FF is mainly about getting the DOF. nowadays sensor tech is pretty good and APSC sensors are excellent. There is nothing in it for me to get the R7 with 35mm f2.8 lens when Fuji is coming out with 23mm f1.4 APSC lens.

Nothing wrong with 35mm ƒ2.8. These are usually very good lenses. They are cheaper to make and are sharp. Leica R and Contax Carl Zeiss used to make them too.
"My lens aperture is bigger than yours" is just an adult version of children comparing penis sizes. Thus we have even ƒ0.95 lens made in the past.
A big aperture lens was useful in film days to shoot in low light. In digital there is less need for very big aperture lenses.
