Official Sony A7 or A7r discussion thread (Season II)

hehe! You are poison!
Still having my reservations about the f/4. Wondering should I get the 70-200 f/4 or a couple of faster (manual) primes.

Depends on your style & genre.. But if for sports & wildlife, f/4 would struggle. At 6pm, I needed ISO 400 minimum for handheld shots. Unless it's the 7S

Mostly for going on holiday, taking streets, candids and the occasional zoo/wildlife shots.

I had great fun with my old OMD EM5 + 35-100/2.8 setup (70-200 equivalent), just wondering if the A7R + 70-200/4 would be as fun and easy to use?
For one thing, the Sony is big and white..... so it's really gonna stand out a little too much for streets. Still thinking if something smaller like a 135/2.8 + 90/2 would be more suitable?

Yes, it does stand out a lil'. It's easy & fun. Too me, the size is perfect. If only it was black

Ohh! Forgot to mention the focus lock button on the lens. Focus recompose is made easier with these buttons. In vertical & horizontal mode, you can use them with a breeze!

hihi.. anyone uses the sony 50mm f1.4 (non zeiss) on the AX bodies with LAEA4??... wondering hows the setup like??... am looking for a 1.4 lens with AF... thanks...

I wonder if the new curved sensor will be compatible with legacy glass?
Would be a shame if not.

curved sensor seems to be limited to fixed lenses so far, hence the RX1s. the sensor curvature needs to be tailored to specific lens designs, and probably won't work for inter-changeable lens cameras at this point.

Noticed that there is a yellowish color on the cloud, is it becoz of the lens?
Which lens you are using?

i think we need to tidy up this thread. it's getting too long and other members will need to search through almost 200 pages to find their answers if they're looking for one.

where's the TS to close this thread and start a new one?

Kei is really prescient, I'm now literally flipping through 200 plus pages

Hi, Im using the voigtlander 12/5,6. Din notice any yellowish till you say so.
Btw, the 12mm is prone to magenta color cast issues at the corners esp on a7r.
