Official Sony A7 or A7r discussion thread (Season II)

Has anybody tried the products from the last 2 links? It looks as good as RRS ...

mine is from the seller in the middle link so i can vouch for that seller.

last one looks improved in weight savings with the metal cut outs. but cant vouch for structural rigidity and quality since i havent seen it for myself.

order one and give us a review :)

No problem.

Remember the limitation on tilting angle for downward tilt. See if that is important for you.

Saw there is this nice l plate for the a7 by sunwayfoto. Its the improved version of last years and they called it the mk2. Seems good and probably ordering 1.

Hmm I tot they going to announce new lens?

FE 28-135 f4.0 pz was announced alongside the a7s...said to be the return of the "secret handshake" =)... Am sure more announcements coming real soon for other Fe lenses. Loving the range of the 28-135, not digging the powerzoom but sure is interesting.

hi all, i am currently using a canon 60d with 17 - 55 f 2.8 and my 2.5 year son is my main subject. i would like to get a smaller camera as it is easier when lugging all my son's stuff around. i am considering the a7. hoever i would like to find out about the AF speed. is it good enough to keep up with a running aroudn 2.5 year boy ? i dont take him running around very often. but i would need the speed and response when needed. thanks!

Probably not faster than the 60D, although a smaller form factor does improves your chances of getting a good shot

Anyone have any experience with beercan and big beercan? Which one is better other den range. Wanted to get my hands on a affordable telezoom without la-ea4

I've used BBC 75-300... works perfectly with the LA-EA4. Fast n accurate focus, great colors, sharp, some CA (but nothing that PP cannot easily fix), and affordable.

hi there, thanks for the advise. seems like fast AF is not A7's strong point. guess i need to re-consider my options. thanks!

you will need the laea4 for any A mount lenses anyways, be it manual or auto..unless you use non A mount leses than you can use other adapters.
Personally, the default AF system on the A7 isn't going to keep up with moving kids..even the burst mode is too slow..The A6k is soooo much better for such stuff.
However, IF you want a FF sensor, then using the laea4 adapter with an AF A mount lens will work becuase with laea4, you bypass the default AF system and use the adapter's SLT AF system which is fast and accurate and tracks really well.
I actually use the Sony 70300G lens with the LAEA4 and it's fantastic for a cheap lens..i've owned the Tamron version before and i can say the Sony version though more expensive, is much better.

just wanna share this l-plate i found which is on the way to my hands(probably in a week 2)

has the screw stopper which i wanted(saved my a77 once and i'm a convet ever since), detachable "L" and dosent affect the screen movement....at least thats what the description and pictures shows. Plus its relatively afforadable compared to other similars. Only negative is the base plate dosent full extend over the battery side and some might complain its ugly but hey, it saves some weight

Ya it is. Cost 63usd from ebay. Need to add in another 11usd for shipping. Not exactly cheap but seems pretty decent.
