Official Sony A7 or A7r discussion thread (Season II)

Anyone knowz where can I get accessories for A7 such as the casing for it?

I dont mind cheaper alternatives as well if it's reasonably good :)

you can try Gariz ones. leather quality and fit is good ,metal base plate adds a little more weight to make the system feel more "Solid" , a better overall grip and a little taller. if there are colours u cant find locally can order straight from sg distributor. I'm using one and cant say enough good things about it...Sony make their own leather half case too and are fairly cheap.

I think he didn't check the A7/r short coming before getting it. It seems he needs A7 based on what he mentioned. A7r was not design as fast as A7. I am using A7r with laea4 and some amount lenses it's not very fast specially at Low light or low contrast even if your focus point is the center one. Tracking also is not that fast and I doubt you can use it for fast moving even for kids at play.

I tried the kit lens yesterday, and I must admit the focusing sucks big time.

It is always back focusing and I ended up using MF. Fortunately, I am more into manual lenses.

Are you focusing something too closely?

I'm using LAEA4 plus the A900 Kit which is SAM 28-75 f2.8 I never had any back focusing issue I encountered more is the slow focusing and hunting on my A7r at low light or when contrast is low at the area I am trying to focus. I have not tried the FE Kit lens nor any native FE lenses on my A7r but have a brief encounter of some FE lenses like 24-70, FE55 and FE35 all seems to focus well but that was in shop so I cant take that as an absolute gauge.

Need advise for OFF CAMERA HSS setup.
What equipment combination allows this to happen for a7?

Many discussions about this before...
If you're talking about 3rd party triggers..there are NONE
The only way that 100% works is using the F20 flash on camera to trigger another sony flash off camera.
If you want to use other strobes like godox and stuff with trigger and HSS...no luck there...
There has been talk about using the Pixel King for Minolta and using 2 different adapters to switch between mounts and MAYBE that would work..but no one has really bought all the items and tested it fully..but most likely it won't work since the firmwares on the triggers don't support the a7.

You're better off using ND filters if you really need to overpower the sun :) If you want to freeze motion..use Sony flashes if not there's no current other way unfortunately...It suck yes..i've been researching for ages for something like this myself..in the end, i'm convinced it doesn't exist

There's a $100 rebate

My understanding is Sony products are controlled price, prices nowadays are in RRP

What i mean this rebate only on sony store rrp. You can get cheaper price with retail shop

Mind sharing which shop is that?

U go to Airport T3 Electronic Hub (Public area level 3 near Itacho Jap restaurant),price is 7% off gst, already more than tat 100 dollars rebate...

I agree..the 100 off is like a joke...many stores are already selling below rrp and more than 100 off..I know I bought my fe55 almost 200 off..

actually i saw cathay photo with that $100 off poster too. perhaps you could get the extra $100 off street prices purchases at retail shops. you nvr know unless someone tries hehe....

Controlled price is only for people who doesn't do their homework :)

Seeing that there are people still trying to sell higher than retail in the bns...
