And yea, i do see people selling 2nd hand or export set even more expensive than brand new retail locally

Ya, I asked twice in 2 weeks and price kept dropping. Really tempted for the 55

It's not intuitive for users to update and contribute to the price guide thread. If CS has something like a popup prompt every few times a user logs in to CS and survey if he or she has bought any new gear or share current prices, perhaps it would work, albeit irritating.

The problem is we have no rights on that thread.

I say just go do your own homework before buying camera gear. Every shop has got its own prices and discounts. period. Its fine if the price guide reflects rrp cuz thats how the prices are supposed to be. Any discount u receive from other retail shop is considered street price and not official. If someone like u update the thread. another update it instantly 50 cents less, another comes along and a few dollars less. Wouldn't it be a mess?

Like i mentioned earlier on, what ever price u recieve that u think's the best deal, theres always one who can get a better deal. You wanna officially document it on the forums on a dedicated thread and when the "watch dogs" clamp down on retailers for giving u too good of a price and spoiling market, buyers suffer for future launches. Food for thought.

Wait a little more It'll drop even further...Look at the US...the a7r price has dropped like the stock market...USD1.5k for the a7r body at one point..almost 1k less than here!

I was in the Gold Coast, Australia a couple of weeks ago. I went to a Sony Centre in Robina Town and saw the A7R listed at AUD2499, but with a slight discount it was priced at AUD2350. The store manager approached me and asked if I am serious in buying, he could worked out a further discount. He came back a couple of minutes later and quoted me AUD2287. I calculated with the GST refund of AUD207.91, I will be paying AUD2079 which is about S$2390. On top of this, I can redeem an adapter of my choice, LAEA4, metabone EF-Nex, Nikon-Nex or Leica M - Nex. I decided to redeem the LAEA4 as I have one remaining alpha lens, 70-400G. All my leitaxed alpha lenses have been converted back to their original R mounts. If I factored in the price of the LAEA4, I paid about about S$2000+ for the A7R. Singapore is no longer the place to buy photo equipment. Last year, I bought a Leica M240 in London and I saved S$1,400.

Whats up with your personal attack? You dont understand the point of what i typed do you? Im not gonna debate much cuz u clearly didnt read through it. Price guide serves as a pricing reference, not a stock exchange street price index. There are reasons why street prices are quoted to u at the retailer in person not over emails or even the phone.
You're the one who mentioned and i quote "controlled price is for people who dont do their homework" bla bla bla <--- so whats your beef with the price guide section not updated with street prices or updated when its just a phone call or a shop visit away? People not feeding your queries so u got disappointed? I see this more of a forum than a camera gear pricing catalog.
you're here asking questions like pricing, how wide a 35mm fov is, where to get certain adapters, what kinda halfcase is available and i pretty much replied to almost all those with as much useful info as possible. My point is those who wanna get camera gear and get best quotes go ahead and do your own HOMEWORK, call up shops etc. Your personal attacks dont work here, if my nose were up in the air, you wouldnt have gotten any of those replies.

WOW, you got an amazing deal on the A7r in australia! Yes, Singapore is the most expensive city now didn't you know haha..so cameras will naturally be expensive also and we can't claim GST..
Time to do up a shopping list while i go to the UK next...clam the VAT..save alot..not camera related but i bought a Brompton bicycle from London last year at SGD1.2k cheaper than if i were to buy it here...i just checked it in and carried it home!
