I just done from my A7 with body cap on. 30sec exposure and 25600 ISO. There is light leak around 7-9pm region from my LCD.
Front cap leak perhaps ?

you need to test with actual lenses..no one shoots with a lens cap on...all these iasues could have been avoided if sony had just followed canon and put rubber gaskets on all their weather sealed lenses. The issue is definitely there but in normal shooting you wont even notice..the 5d3 had the same issie but it didnt affect day to day normal shooting
Came across this on youtube =) FREE 3rd-party time lapse app for Sony cameras with wifi control including A7/r [Only on Android though] . Video gives a good walk through of the app, works like a intervalometer. Wish they had it on ios too.

this light leak thing seem to affect only certain number of cameras...some users including me did not see any after carrying out the tests...imo, a loose lens mount or a lens with poor fit might be the culprit too. A guy i met up with recently had to send in his a7 to fix his lens mount cuz it was loose and all.
i think it affects most people. I tested on mine..with a body cap on and when i shine a bright LED directly into the camera, the light leak is very obvious..but that could also be because the cap is not tight and it's after plastic and can still absorb some light going through..
I could not replicate this issue when testing it with an actual lens attached...
There's ONLY a very slight leak with the lens on when i put the lED DIRECTLY into the orange ring...
Having said that..in everyday shooting, this is NEVER gong to be an issue..even with long exposures..you do it becuase it's dark, you're not going to see an actual bright light during long exposures....
And also..when i tested this with the lens on AND lens cap OFF..there's absolutely NO leak because everythign is WHITE! You can only see the leak if it's BLACK...but nobody shoots that way right?
Doesnt look like there's any manual controls from the video. Shall try it out tonight. Hopes for bulb mode.
Thanks for sharing!
Dude i think u should read through replies before replying. I already mentioned in the the previous reply that body cap's not light tight. The fact u did the test with bodycap on is already an obsolete test. And why would u even do it with lens cap off? Lol? U cant test for light leak if lens cap is off. EVERYTHING IS SUPPOSE TO BE BLACK not WHITE if there is no light leak. And there's a reason why some of them made noise on dpreview cuz some shoot long daylight exposures. Go take a look at whats going on there before posting again. They were testing it in dark cuz It's the best way to test for light leak. you're right that it doesnt affect normal usage but theres still ppl who use it differently. Yours have got a leak, mine doesnt. U see the problem here? Its QC. So thats what the big fuss is about. Ppl unhappy about the variation in Qc bla bla bla.

"Sony Japan officially announced a new A7 and A7r firmware release for March 19! And these are the improvements (translated from Japanese):
- support for the focus hold button of the new SEL 70-200G lens
- Start up time reduction
- Image quality improvement
- Adds Live view grading and smooth reflection application. Improves “Time Laps” APP."
i did the repeated test because i just want to make sure i was affected..so to me it's not a redundant test..anyways, leak or not, it doesn't bother me so i shan't dwell deeper into it..
