Official Sony A7 or A7r discussion thread (Season II)

No worries on buying A7R on credit. SG buys everything on credits. Property, car, wedding package, tour package, and even online betting. All these are more worrying than hobby on photography.

Only old man like me go to Funan and pay cash... including my M9P. That's why can always ask for lower price.

Cash is King bro... :bsmilie:

Hey guys, stumbled upon a rather interesting Sony accessory that's compatible with the a7/r while i was in japan. For those who like to do casual handheld videos ,im sure some would find the record button a little out of place especially when u wanna push stop. If u've got a small little lens like the fe35 with the a7/r, u might wanna try this out. It's a well built mini-tripod grip with record start/stop, smart zoom and shutter that allows for half-press with af. :) Ergonomically, It's not gonna work with larger zoom lenses thats for sure but for what it does, it's a rather handy little tool. Decided to give it a try n bought it anyway. Note this one's the new multi version that works with nex/alpha cameras gp-vpt1 .

here's a vid of it

@ 1.50 , the reviewer demonstrates it with the a7/r

Help please! How do you activate/change digital zoom while video recording?

Pay with cash ba, can save that 3% surcharge too. ( and why is it that these shops are still allowed to charge the 3% =.= when it's supposed to be illegal ) and heh , I also pay in cash.'

If I need to pay installments for a piece of electronics , I prob shouldn't be buying it.

I totally agree with you about the installment bit. I rather save up to buy than to pay installments for my electronics. Only time i paid with a credit card for my camera stuff was when i bought my A7 in HK as i was trying to save my cash for other uses. Ended up with more than enough cash! Bleah!

Some local shops can give you the crap that they are a small business so they can't absorb the 3% card charge.;p

Haha, only old man got that kind of pocket mah..so deep..filled with excess cash...especially those who got CPF..got money for other "hobby" also :)
But actually, i myself also prefer to pay cash..you do get it cheaper...and i usually save up the cash and keep at home until i buy..if i leave the money in the bank i'll end up spending it on other stuff..i also paid cash for all my camera gears

Haha... you are an Old Man like me then.... Haha...

So what is your other "hobby"? :D

now this thread talking about cash and credit card hehehe... want to add to the OT me its a case to case basis there's no harm using cards as long you have the means to pay off what you bought. The problem with cards is folks buy things beyond their capabilities to pay.

As everyone Cash is king! case to case will you still pay cash this way?

PS I also preferred cash or nets as much as possible :-)

I think it depends on the financial management of individual. Some can handle credit cards, some cannot.

Some become slave to credit cards & bills.

You should have shot some photos of Chinese wealthy folks carrying cash to pay FULL for prime condominiums in Singapore.

Yes. Cash is King.

And we are Out of Topic. My last contribution on this.

Agree what I do I only have 1 credit card only use it e.g. online travel bookings, if there's a promos for my cards or purchases above 4-5K and more. And I don't do installment for any electronic items or furniture when using my card... I tried once before and its a huge discomfort don't want to do it again.

Looks legit ...
http://www.sony.com.au/nex-lens/feature/Introducing-the-future-of-Sony-fullframe-lenses/582208

Quote "A great camera is nothing without a lens to match it. That's why Sony is committed to releasing a comprehensive range of full-frame lense for E-Mount, with 10 planned for release by the end of 2014, and 15 by the end of 2015. So you can focus on getting the shot, with the knowledge that the system will continue to grow with you."

So 5 more FF lenses coming in 2014 ... YAY

Thanks to everyone for your input! Got the a7r with the 55f1.8 eventually. Happened to met 2 guys yesterday seperately at funan and both recommended the a7r too. Guess my mind will be thinking of "upgrading" soon if I got the a7. Lolx.

AF is definately not on par with my a77 but will be sufficient for travel photography I think. If its a fast moving object, even dslr or slts will have problems in my hands. That said, other than the omds, I have not tried a mirroless AF that I am satisfied with.

Good choice buddy. More and more A7 users are selling their A7 to upgrade to the A7R after seeing the much improved Image Quality. Good to go straight to A7R, or you will be tempted very soon for upgrade if you have bought the A7.

Enjoy!
