Nex cameras and A7/R are using the same E mount. M to E mount adapters are available on eBay. They all should work but precision comes at a price.

The Sony lenses which require adapter to work on the A7/R are A mount lenses. These lenses are made for SONY DSLRs.

Yes, A7/R uses the same E mount as Nex cameras. There is no such thing as an FE mount. Full frame lenses with E mount are designated as FE lenses.

Nex lenses do not need adapter to use on a7. They share the same mount, E-mount. Lenses designated FE just means they cover the FF field of view, as opposed to apsc field of view for the other older nex E-mount lenses.

Lenses adapted to E-mount (be it nex or A7) includes Sony DSLR/T A-mount lenses via their proprietary LA-EA# adapters for autofocus and/or electronic communications, Canon EF lenses via smart 3rd party adapters like metabones which also retains AF and electronic communication albeit slow, or any other lenses using dumb adapters which only corrects for the flange distance.

Guys, may I ask if it's true that Focus Magnification is disabled when we are using 3rd party lenses like Tamron, Tokina, etc? I realised I can't use that function when I mount my beer can and Tamron 24-70 f2.8 with LA-EA4 onto my A7.

Nope.

I think you have to set custom settings like what I do for mine.
