I quite agree with him on his views on the pro and cons . Except I do find the sensitive eye sensor slightly irritating, but not a deal breaker.

If you are considering buying either camera and haven't yet, be VERY wary and suspicious of this review. And it's not just me. I have seen nothing similar in any other review I've read. Has anybody else?

Not all reviewers / sites are objective or renders sound judgements...truth is the A7/R are far from perfect, but it just ticks more boxes for me and allow me to enjoy what I bought it for in the first place -- enjoy my hobby and makes me want to go out and take photo again

Nex lenses do not need adapter to use on a7. They share the same mount, E-mount. Lenses designated FE just means they cover the FF field of view, as opposed to apsc field of view for the other older nex E-mount lenses.

Lenses adapted to E-mount (be it nex or A7) includes Sony DSLR/T A-mount lenses via their proprietary LA-EA# adapters for autofocus and/or electronic communications, Canon EF lenses via smart 3rd party adapters like metabones which also retains AF and electronic communication albeit slow, or any other lenses using dumb adapters which only corrects for the flange distance.

Nope. I think you have to set custom settings like what I do for mine.

Syke... Can you further explain what you mean by custom settings? How can I go about doing it in order to get focus magnification?

And you have to be in Manual Focus mode

Kei, do you mean that I have to switch to MF with my Minolta and tamron lenses in order to access focus magnification? Wouldn't that kind of defeat the purpose of having an af lens?

Me too !!! Still remember years a go i bought sony laptop at sony store at Tampines one, saw a guy buying sony DSLR and was thinking "what is that toy ? Who buying sony DSLR ? Poor thing , why not nikon/canon? "
I think it is better now but i hope their improve their design

It is much better... I molested A99, A77, A65...

A99 & A77 can pass... but EVF is something.... I need to get used to if I switch... but highly unlikely.... was fun playing with them....

A65.... for that price.... not too bad... the SLT was like... GPMG....

Only reason I am looking at Sony is because of Zeiss.........

The 55/1.8 is out in SG. Just received a call from Sony to pick it up.

Yea, the flyer was sent out to all local registered a7 owners to pre order their 55mm and 2470 at the stores they bought from.
The 55 arrives on 29jan according tot he flyer..the 2470 is mid feb but there's an Asterix there saying actual date to be confirmed so very likely...mid feb will be march or later.

They reserved the 55mm F1.2 FE-S for you liao. Based on their records, customers who bought both A7 and A7R are priority customers who deserve more than the normal 55mm FE or the 24-70F4. They kept the 24-70F1.8 for you too.

Only 500 sets made, and all handmade in Germany by Zeiss.

They have not updated you as not firmed up whether to charge you a premium or super premium price.
