It might be the older Sony 50mm f1.4 Carl Zeiss and might be a mis-order :bsmilie:

Sony has two main kinds of interchangeable lens camera system, the DSLR/T which uses the A mount, and the mirrorless NEX/A7(r) which uses the E mount, similar to canon EF mount for DSLRs and the EOS M mount for its mirrorless cameras.

For DSLR, canon crop lenses are called EF-S and uses the same mount as full frame EF lenses. For nikon, crop lenses are designated as DX. For Sony A mount, crop lenses are designated as DX (no unique name for Full frame lenses) . For sony mirrorless E mount, crop lenses have no special designation, but Full frame E mount lenses are designated "FE"

KM mount is the mount used by minolta DSLRs before they were bought by Sony, and is the exact same mount as A mount. So to use KM (or A) mount lenses on a7, which is an E mount mirrorless cameras, u will need the laea3 or laea4 adapter. Laea4 allows full AF and electronic control of the adapted lenses, but laea3 may not allow u to AF most of the older lenses with SAM or SSM motor.

THanks Bro for the explanation... understand the lens much better now...

APSC = E-mount, A mount DT
FF = FE-mount, A mount (no marking), FA - Zeiss

For Sony A-mount, the APS-C lenses are marked DT. The Full Frame lenses bear no marking, except the Zeiss lenses with FA

The E-mount APS-C lenses have no special term for them, but the Full Frame E-mount lenses are marked FE

Thank you Kei Kei....

Well, DP Review has always been biased against Sony cameras. No issue if it's gotten a Silver Award because it's got a Platinum Gold Award from me and my experience in using it :bsmilie:

Review is good as a reference....

But when actual purchase, look at your budget and your needs.....

And your feeling about the camera =)

Yes... initial Sony DSLR to me was a turn off... I thought I was holding a toy camera.... lol...

I only held A7 recently... not sure if the DSLR still feel toyish...

Buy First, Regret Later :)

Life is too short to live in regrets....

1. Learn from others mistakes.

2. Make decision based on information at time x and stick to it.... when time y comes... dunn regret.

3. Be clear on what u want.

Hi Guys. Anyone knows cheap but workable adapter for M mount to Sony E mount? i am confused if the previous NEX adapters can be used with A7 with no vignetting or not?

Nex cameras and A7/R are using the same E mount. M to E mount adapters are available on eBay. They all should work but precision comes at a price.
