All E3 users. Well, let's see how the image quality of the new camera improves. I might get impulsive at the shop or Olympus China makes me an offer I cannot refuse. Which is highly unlikely.
That is simply dumb.. A pro camera with newbie functions. Someone is very confused in Olympus. So what Olympus is really saying is that the new flagship camera is now a serious amateur camera. The pro has left the building.
For a pro, most of the effects are already sitting in Photoshop as an action library, how much time do you think it takes a pro to edit an image? A week? Product line was left in the hands of the village fool, most likely surname Bush.
Bro, some points i dun agree. But the IQ is definitely better than E3. :lovegrin: Oly China will sell u a E5 for 1RMB juz for formality sake. HAHAHAHA!!!
Actually no features is too newbie, the things r dead, its the people who use it thats not flexi. The art filters is a good marketing tool & also it is fun to use. Its like using DSLR in P,S, & A mode, those r basically P&S style (newbie?). How many "photographers" pro or not still use M mode? U get what i mean?
Good glass can only bring u this far, sadly. Oly is a great optic company, no doubt, but sucks big time with electronics. Unless they turn back time to 1970 where manual focus still reigns, Oly will be the "Leica of asia". Oly really needs to face up to reality, this is 2010, not 1970.
In my opinion, Olympus should also develop an advanced version of Viewer for professionals and serious amateurs. That's the only software that a photographer can get true Olympus colours when post-possessing is required.
These days selling a cam base on IQ alone is very difficult. Ask urself, if Canon & squeeze 18MP onto a APS-C sensor & still looks ok, or Sony 16MP into the crop sensor, why is Oly struggling? If u peep at the 1DsIII & Sony A900, u'll soon realised Oly is not the only one capable of great IQ.
The pros have Studio, thats the ver meant for them :lovegrin: U tried it? Pretty good & easy to pickup, unlike Capture NX2 from Nikon (not user frenly).

I didn't concur (made it sounded like the original "Conquer")
I dun agree with what Oly did to E5, IQ & features can't make a dent to competitors
So what features? 1st off, the
existing ones need improvement
1) Oly needs to put 2 processor into the new flagship. Reason being it will help process ultra HQ images & also push FPS. Not important? Then u lose market share in that seg. Having fastest SWD lens w/o FPS to support is juz moot.
2) Min 16MP. Why? U need details to boast the SHG glass & also make big prints for big impression. All for the sake of marketing. Why? Becos if u dun sell, u go belly up.
I will ask for 21MP. The way to go there is to use nightpiper's secret NR method (which shall not be put public

3) LCD change to AMOLED or Super AMOLED 920k rez. My samsung wave tells me thats the way to go. The display is really so gorgeous, u gotta see to believe. I put the Canon virus shot as the phone wall paper & it really looked damn good.
Another plus point of using AMOLED is low power consumption & thinner profile.
4) Size & weight. Whats keeping people from getting getting a Nikon D700 with a 24-120 F4 VR lens? Price only. Nikon is a big brand & has great followings, hard to fight head on. Oly must make use of weight factor as an advantage. Oly seems to have forgotten about the advantages the smaller sensor carries.
5) AF. This one needs no intro. Better & faster AF (still & tracking). Now with the flagship, it has to have "3D" AF, ie. must be able to track subject moving towards u. Pro or not pro, this one will bring in more users. Solid AF is useful in every way u see it regardless of newbie or not.
6) LView. Look at Sony. No need to talk much, afterall Oly is the father of LV & why they didn't make it as good as Sony is to everyone's guess
7) Same silent shutter as the E1 pls.
8) 16bit per colour channel. All others now r offering 14bits. Oly can make it closer to MF digital backs. With such huge data, dual processors will come in handy. The colour depth does make a diff, not entirely a marketing hype. Afterall, Studio uses 16bit per colour to process ORF files.
9) Expand filters to incl simulated films like Provia, Reala, Velvia, Ekta Chrome, Agfa, TMX, Ilford etc
10) Increase buffer size & write to card speed.
So ask urself, why is Oly so "yesterday"? U expect old technology to sell well in modern times? I only know antiques fetch very good prices. HAHAHA!!!
New features:
1) Video in 1080p!! What is Oly thinking!!?? Whether or not u use it is not a factor, but having it 1080i/p help sells the product. Guaranteed. Why wud anyone want to carry heavy 5DII & 1D4 to do video when a lighter more superior cam can do the same job & cheaper? Oly cam also can mount exotic cine lenses. To put another icing on the cake, gives better video control
2) If Oly really want to make waves with the new flagship, be the 1st to offer 2k video!!! That one guarantee big hit!! No need to fight with RED, juz cripple some controls or quality but be there. This is also where the 2xprocessor comes in
3) GPS geotagging? Why not there?
4) 3D capability in both still & video. This is another good point to sell cams.
5) True Multi Aspect ratio like GH1 with a slightly bigger sensor.
6) Features like Sony sweep panorama, DRO & HDR r useful. I understand E5 has HDR now but there shud be a little more
7) Bulit-in WiFi for wireless pic transfer & remote trigger/tethering
9) Built-in timer for time lapse
10) Some touchscreen GUI direct functions. Reduce buttons outside to improve weather sealing.
So there u have it. U want features? U gotta ask urself 1 question.... Can u handle the truth? HAHAHAHA!!!
This E5, like i said, is good as a E630. Pricing shud be such as well, about S$1.3k & nothing more
