[ OFFICIAL RELEASE 2010.09.14 ] - Olympus E-5

To be fair, the scene DR might be too great for the camera's DR and the images don't seem to be well taken, so why not wait for more instead of jumping to conclusions based on just 1 site?

guess I was just too angsty and growing increasingly impatient after seeing bro microcosm's rant. It has not helped after the announcement of the D7000 and K-5.

It's nice, but at f/7.1 and iso 200, it better be ...

More interesting are the ISO 800 to ISO 6400 without NR. But as the writer said, got to do this, later when have time ....

"For proper evaluation you may want to consider running these samples through some form of noise management."

.

i'm pretty impressed with the high ISO, NR off shots. i like how it appears to be more grainy than having chroma noise or banding

Its alright, initially after reading everyone's comments both good and bad,I was also affected, but after sitting down and think for awhile, just use what is available rather than thinking about why it is as so

I agree, I hardly see any colour noise though I do see nice, very nice indeed, I hate colour noise but noise is ok to me

Add the K-r to that list and it would be a really good 4 way test.

It's become far too interesting without much real life information.

Not to forget the New Sigma flagship the SD1. It may well turn really well.

Could we know what was the Noise Filter setting?

Noise Filter Off.

Die.

The more samples I look at the more the poison sets in.

Must start pixel peeping to purge...

Yeah... the minute you hit ISO3200 and pixel peep... the glorious noise is quite clear..

oh i'm not worried about that kind of noise.

what i'm looking out for is colour and texture consistency

if it's consistent it's easy to eliminate if needed; and won't show up in A4 prints.

it's the false colour and colour bleed that is worrying, because that WILL show up in print.

(un)fortunately the e-5 jpegs don't show false colour.

which is good; but (bad) for the bank balance.

Oh man, ive got a feeling the price isnt going down by half after all. Good ISO performance.

If you're serious. Sigma cameras, to me, are a lot like Samsung end user products. They have good hardware and really, really terrible software. Both companies are becoming better but they really need to hire some company with experience in ease of use to get some training.

Is that surprising? I wonder how many firmware updates the E-5 will take to be stable.

Thanks again K3n for sharing, the images seem pretty good, this camera, though lack of features seems like a pretty good upgrade, only thing missing is color

If I only consider within Oly I would say yes the ISO is a welcome upgrade......... now if I add other brands.... its a different ball game.... There are some entry level cam that cost half of E5 that could perform similar or close to it.....

I dont think anyone from other brands will migrate to E5... still find E5 a bit 1 or 2 yrs behind its competitors...

Sorry guys this is just my observation...

never ending argument is... you cant mount your zuikos on other bodies :bsmilie:
