Thanks! WSAG still have not figure out the best locale to shoot and Sudong strip I have not been there for almost 15 years to date. You left out WSAB
I assumed WSAB would be the ICAO code for Changi Air Base (East)? I don't see that as a dedicated and permanent military airbase installation especially with the plan proposal for the future terminals and extension to RWY 02R/20L.
Just to ask, there are also a series of TWYs leading into a separated section of Changi Air Base (West) just passed emergency exit "whiskey two" along the perimeter fence, with camouflaged and concealed hangers. Years of spending my time in WSSS and I have not yet seen a single aircraft or ground vehicle entering the area, are those remnants of the former RAF airbase and currently maintained for contingency purposes?
When plane spotting my only contention is the timing as I am not working when my clients don't engage me. So cheohing people is difficult as not everyone's time is flexible.
For the UAV, its almost a daily occurrence at Lim Chu Kang Way, best to capture it on the knoll parallel to the main road (near the chicken farm) where they place the MATC during the last exercise. Or at the Chinese cemetery areas right at the end near the armour track. However, for UAV bear in mind that they seldom fly low and they don't land the same approach as the normal planes.
The reason I mentioned it is due to the fact that I currently stay in one of the HDB estates nearest to WSAT which is directly under the traffic pattern for aircraft approaching and landing into RWY 36 of WSAT.
I had previously attempted to snap a couple of photos of the Hermes 450 and Searcher Mk II reconnaissance UAVs, couldn't get a proper focus of the UAVs due to their size but they sure are as noisy as hell.
For the AEW&C and F16, best at the road near Concord Primary, for the more adventurous, there is a bus stop near the approach way which gives you 3 sec of opportunity but at very close range when they are about to land.
I wonder have anyone notice that between 1200 - 1245, approach activities seems to increase and at rather short intervals for WSAT, WSAP.
Yet to catch the Eagle at WSAP, saw it a few times without my camera.
My prefer spotting location for WSAT is the stairwell between the 22nd and 20th floor of Block 210, Boon Lay Place even though it is a short drive from my home, additional details mentioned in this
post.
From my experience and observation, the greatest intensity of landing approaches into RWY 36 of WSAT occurs most frequently during the mid-morning (0900 hrs to 1100 hrs), afternoon (1200 to 1400 hours) and late evening (1700 hrs to 1900 hrs) with a interval of 2 hours in each "period" or "session".
With regards to the F-15SGs, I wouldn't worry about that since they will be introduced to our airspace in a year or two.
